General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

Link about EN vs CN profits.

Calli outearned all of CN in a month, as I remembered

Link to costs, Yagoo on operating at a loss

Total overseas numbers are about 1 mil in the red due to ID and CN barely making anything, EN is profit ever since superchat was turned on. Not surprising in the least, considering the war in Calli's chat that one time literally breaking her.
The hypothetical $40,000 for all the girls as a base salary is generous the point of absurdity (it's more likely they were getting a bigger cut out of the superchats than the poster was expecting), but I can definitely see how they've been overstretching themselves for for a while with the international branches, and yet were hoping for that one Hail Mary to pass (hence striking gold with EN).

Considering how little they seem to pay their JP talent from the little things the girls have mentioned here and there, 40K USD is just... lol. Not to mention estimating that amount as the salary for CN and ID is even funnier. Cost of living in those countries tends to skew much lower.

Holy shit what, he was married? It's pretty based that he decided to do the whole VTubing thing and still had a whole-ass relationship on the side

Damn, I'm gonna need source on that.

If it's anything like what I've seen flip NBA mouthbreathers act like, somebody needs to call a crusade.

If Reddit isn't jerking themselves off over a very obvious troon, then yeah it's lukewarm.

I was somewhat mollified that her TTP appearance didn't shit the bed (tho a couple flags were raised, and even the hosts noticed). The real signal to send in Abbot Amalric? If she decides to go onto the Fantano podcast...

It’s an upper bound estimate, so basically the biggest expenses possible. So in other words EN’s gonna float ID very very shortly.

potential lead ?

I think a lot of you are underestimating how normie saturated the v-tuber scene already is domestically. World domination and then diffusion is inevitable at this point. The concept is just too good to drop regardless of how many scandals there will be. In a couple years it will stop being a novel thing and become as normal as recording yourself playing video games. Who knows if the big JP agencies will survive it.

The Chinese situation is probably the worst thing to happen because the law is not an option when the botting and harassment are coming from a country with no accountability and serious NEET problem. The worst incidents to come out of the JP fanbase involve IRL stalking which is an actual crime that's too high effort for most schizos, and the worst incidents that could potentially come from the EN fanbase would probably be some dumb political thing. Whatever the result is, western a-logs don't have the great firewall and the government on their side.

My prediction: v-tubers in 2022 will be about as mainstream as k-pop is right now. Probably highly cancerous fanbase, but easy enough to ignore.

Edit: Merchandising takes a really long time to organize. In the current situation, even longer. A lot of goods that were supposed to come out in 2020 have been delayed. Hololive in particular is going the right direction by collaborating with Good Smile to deliver some high quality products like Nendoroids. I think the other thing holding them back is just a lack of connections in the industry and lack of incentive. Cover doesn't need to produce low profit margin merch when they can make superchat money doing literally nothing. Things like branded pencils are beneath them unless they're part of a physical set. Collaborating with gigantic sponsors like Nissin or Sony and letting them handle it makes so much more sense.

Better to just enjoy experiencing the golden age of v-tubing than stress over it's inevitable "demise" as more tards and opportunists join in. There is nothing you can do about that. You cannot possibly gatekeep a new medium of self expression. Chances are, the ones you like won't really be effected anyways unless you're unlucky (like me).

If it really bothers you, you can always just learn Japanese. You're missing out on some great content that never gets translated like Polka literature streams.

Of course not. But, all the same, we can still discuss matters of potential concern and explain particularly why those matters should be something to keep an eye on.

Like the Calli acknowledging Artemis situation: I don't think the advent of it happening is necessarily a cause for doomerposting and fatalism quite yet, but it does give a no talent rat like Artemis free clout, and that opens up an avenue for lolcow levels of shit from either Artemis, Calli, or both depending on how each person conducts themselves accordingly from this course of action, and it's best to be aware of the possibility so it's not something that just seemingly comes out of left field should it become something HAPPENING-worthy.

And, you know, naturally, nobody wants the thing they're enthusiastic about to turn to shit. Especially not those of us for whom the content has become one of those rare, few things we actually have to look forward to and enjoy when it comes to internet entertainment that isn't predicated solely upon laughing at the lunacy of others.

I haven't bought anime merch in over a decade, but I would seriously consider a good shark Nendo.

Edit: Shark has hit 1.4 mil subs, she's bordering on lapping a lot of people.

Lots of people hated Moona now. See, people kind of hated her because she loved to provoke certain reaction only to do what me and friends called "simp farming" by playing victim and playing sympathy.
However, lots of people (me included) thought that she might have matured and learned when she played around with Pekora.
However, now that she did her usual tactics again, it turns out she is stil the same, just an edgy weebs

Edit: needless to say, her support in the indonesian market is at an all-time low. Lots of people (and I mean LOTS) are already joking about her graduation "soon"
simp farming? Playing victim? Usual tactics? where is this coming from? As far as im aware her twitter is mostly shitposting and food. Sorry, it might just be me being pretty biased towards HoloID, but can you explain more context?

That 48-hour music stream has started. From what I've seen, most of it isn't vtubers as we understand it, but just music videos with animated lyrics over a still drawing or footage of a city shot out of a car window or that sort of thing. There was a male fox (not a fox-boy but like an actual fox) who had a pretty good voice, and that's been about it in terms of animated models actually "singing."

As for Moona, well, as with all normal people, some time away from Twitter will probably do some good.

The usual e-thot tactics, doing stupid things then appealing to their sympathizer like suicide baiting or so (this case doesn't go that extreme though). When she had some crticism in the past like the Vodka thing and the Ark server problem, she posted tweets that goes by that nature
