Circuit court assignments for Supreme Court justices are important because when an emergency motion is filed to the Supreme Court regarding a case before a circuit court, the justice assigned to that circuit court rules on the motion. You can file emergency motions before the Supreme Court while the case is still undecided at the circuit court level. Emergency motions are basically "we can't wait for the circuit court's final ruling, we need an injunction/stay/whatever immediately while the case is still being litigated in the circuit court."

But surely they can still verify whether the envelopes contained a legitimate ballot? I thought the whole verification was with the envelopes which was why PA destroying them made their state such a shit show. That's what all this signature verification fuss is about.

Why are voting data being transmitted and stored outside of US borders? Is there really no safe location on US soil itself?

I dunno. I heard it or something like it I think in 2018 from a poster on here, and it really stuck with me (I don't think I was smart enough to think of it on my own). It would admittedly be more bureaucracy, and I don't think it'd ever go anywhere, but I think it be an interesting thought exercise at the very least. Especially whenever you see those "election results by county". I'll admit that my rural conservative bias might influence it, as all those blue states are really blue island counties in a sea of red, so it would favor politicians that I agree with more, but it would also weaken the Chicago-style stranglehold.
