You'd be surprised that CA guns laws actually have a viable chance for becoming less restrictive. A Bush-appointed federal judge struck down the California 10-round magazine limit, which was later affirmed by some Trump-appointed judges on the 9th Circuit. The same federal judge is also going to be hearing the assault weapons and carry laws, and if you haven't noticed yet he doesn't much care for a lot of California's gun laws.

Coupled with the fact that Trump wasn't able to finish flipping the 9th Circuit we might have to find out if ACB getting on SCOTUS actually means they'll start hearing gun cases again.

Joe Biden is not my ideal candidate. I much preferred Pete Buttiegieg. In fact, Joe was pretty much the lowest on my list of people that I wanted to see win the nomination, only slightly above Warren (she's not electable, let's be honest here).

However, I still happily voted for him. While I don't really care for him as a candidate, I do think he will appoint qualified people to positions. He will act less like a lolcow on Twitter and more like a president should. He will put forth effort to doing what we can about climate change and the environment. He will listen to scientists on covid. He will appoint someone who actually cares about education to the secretary of education position. He also is familiar enough about the Senate where, even if Republicans take control, he might get a few things done.

And not to get all cheesy and such, but having a qualified VP that is not just a woman, but a woman that isn't white is huge. Now, little girls and young women have someone to look up to. Young black girls have a woman that they can admire and know that they, too, could become VP or president some day.

The reason I would have voted for Trump is because I believed that he would actually address the problems that hoi paloi faces in day to day life. Scrapping TPP and TTIP along with adding tariffs has encouraged previous offshoring to be reversed. I do think mass immigration hurts the living standards of C2, D & E. Ive witnessed it's effects first hand.

Do I wish that the republicans would do more about carbon emissions, sure, but I don't have faith in the democrats on that front either. If people were serious about reducing carbon emissions they would 1) Use nuclear power for 90+% of domestic electric and make sure that all cargo ships were nuclear powered. 2) Press forward with the electric motor. 3) (and this one will eat you up inside) localisation, heavily incentivise people to purchase locally produced goods to reduce the number air/truck miles. The Democrats do not want to do this, they want "green" energy which amounts to scams like solar panels and wind turbines which have a horrific impact on the enviroment considering how little energy they actually produce. Trying to stop people driving in the short term (not attainable) and pretty much anything that will keep the little man down.

And finally I disagree that have a mixed race woman as VP is huge. To be honest, it is completely meaningless and if you only wanted it for it's novelty it's counterproductive. I'm an equal opportunities man. I think DJT has been pretty damn good on this, while the democrats have pretty much just rehabilitated racism, sexism and homophobia.

True, but she was so unpopular with the voter base that she withdrew her presidential bid before the Iowa caucus. The reason that she's Vice President is that she hitched her wagon to an old white man who was more popular with Democrat voters. That doesn't seem very inspiring to me, and I would think that people who are inclined towards identity politics would want a nonwhite woman who straight up defeats her opponents on her own merits.

Personally I'm much more interested in how a person will govern than their demographic background. Harris being a woman or a minority really has no bearing on whether she is wise or has a good temperament for making decisions that will benefit the country. That's one of the fundamental reasons I dislike the Democratic Party's ideology: they consider it acceptable to provide access to power and prestige on factors other than merit, like skin color, gender, or victimhood status.
