Feel like his throwing his fishing net out trying to get anyone of relevance to tweet at him and it REALLY bruises his ego when he doesn't get big names retweeting or talking to him on twitter.
He does seem to be out here trying to bait... something, at least.
This new Twitter phase is really bizarre because it doesn't jive with his mentality on Twitch. We've seen him cut stream when he has been raided, and he has generally done everything he can to suppress raids on his stream, even enacting Follower Only mode himself, despite previously claiming that he never does that, it's just something his mods do. When his audience numbers are oddly high, Phil will stall out and take brakes as a means to try and wait out what he clearly perceives to be trolls. He seems to deliberately try to cull the streams down to his regulars.
And yet here he is on Twitter, suddenly doing the equivalent of running out naked in the street, screeching. Why try to pull an audience on Twitter instead of the platform where you actually produce content? The only thing I can think of is Phil doesn't want people to turn up at his Twitch and see what a terrible streamer and pathetic beggar/shill he is. I guess he is hoping if he acts like a Twitter tough guy, people who enjoy his Twitter persona will turn up to the stream and just throw money at him? Or at least come in with a positive impression and are more likely to stick around long enough to get hit with the pignosis? It's just really weird what he has chosen to prioritize here.
This tweet also sums up just about everything hypocritical about Phil bashing 'shills'. It's uncanny.
I'm assuming his defense for the PS5 product display is that he isn't a 'shill' because he just... hocks the product for free.
I think he is trying to craft some visual that he can later point to when asking companies for sponsorships.
But then again, between that and Twitter, Phil seems to have really lost touch with reality this last month so who can say what he is thinking.
