I'll never get people who are like "omg my kid is gonna be soooo inspired at this person being in charge!"
Speaking as someone who got into school politics - the vast majority of kids don't give a stuff about this stuff. Only the hardcore nerds with a thing for history or political intrigue get into politics or appreciate civics beyond public services they can better understand like police and fire service.
To most kids/teens, politics is people sitting in committees arguing over lots of small things (which is what it mostly *is*) - and at best you only care if it impacts you in a way that you notice. Like new math, or the forcing schools to change their lunch menu to incredibly depressing "healthy alternatives".
It's just another adult in the chain of authority that you hear about and sometimes see on TV when something important is happening.
You know, i wonder how true it is about kamala sleeping her way up. I've been seeing that thrown around the farms. I would love to know since TDS folks slut shames manlia over her past modeling photos
She's a woman who, in less than 2 months, will be the first woman vice president of the United States. That's something to look up to
Dude, women aren't going to look up to a slut who used her body to get political favors. My dad's Millennial, Hispanic, Trump hating girlfriend doesn't even like Kamala Harris. In fact she hated Kamala Harris so much that she voted for Trump. This fantasy world where anyone but white liberal women who scream, "YAAAAASSSS QWUEEEEN!" Are enthusiastic for her is incredibly retarded.
You want to give women a real role model? Find someone that didn't get where she is by sucking dick and using a man she accused of being a sexual abuser as a trojan horse to get in the White House. I was perfectly willing to believe everything you said up until that. I could at least see your point of view. But here you have to be joking. You have to be doing this ironically.
I went to a small-town high school with Karen. Karen has always been attention seeking, first it was
theatre and she dumped me as a friend when I won the part she wanted. Next it was the swim team, she didn't make varsity as an underclassman and was so distraught she cut her legs in the locker room at the first big meet so all the girls could see what "we did" to her, needless to say the meet was derailed so Karen could be calmed down and cared for. Next it was mock-trial and academic decathlon, Karen had a top GPA and I was a slacker (fuck homework, just give me the test) and we were placed on separate teams. While we all medaled at county level, Karen's team did not make enough points to go to state, but mine did and she immediately volunteered to be an alternate for my team. At night in the hotel Karen would throw massive tantrums and try everything in the book to get someone to crack from the pressure so she could take their place and be
the star. It didn't work and the team of slackers medaled again. I gave mine to Karen because I felt sorry for her, but when we got back to school she told people I'd gotten sick and she had taken my place, leading the team to victory.
After high school, Karen developed a keen interest in politics and activism, denouncing the racist and sexist discrimination she suffered on a daily basis that had beat her down and kept her from winning everything she ever tried to do. BLM was a godsend for Karen's political rants and validation of her "POC experience". Over the summer, every single day, Karen had a new post fearing for her life, her kids, her husband...in a town who's number one killer is drunk driving your car off the side of a cliff at 2am. Down with the police! When Kamala was announced as the winning VP, Karen cried with joy because it was a sign that a woman had broken the glass ceiling and ascended to the highest echelons of power. Karen can imagine herself in Kamala's place, reigning over the foolish denizens of the country, re-educating the poor misguided souls and punishing those vile evil racists who refuse to see their crimes against innocent, stronk, independent POC wahmen like her.
(Karen's father was the mayor. She was considered one of the most beautiful and intelligent girls at school, but what Karen has never understood is that no one was discriminating against her because of her skin or her bobs and vagene. It is her personality, attention-seeking behavior, and perpetual victimhood that are utterly repulsive. Pretty on the outside, putrid on the inside.)
So it doesn't matter if Kamala used the oldest path to power for a woman, or was self-made or whatever. It doesn't matter that she is the embodiment of hypocrisy. It doesn't even matter if your little girl gives zero fucks about politics. All that matters is that
she won which means that
Karen can win too. Karen is a teacher, so how do you think Karen will be influencing her students? And what will happen if concerned parents try to get rid of Karen? They won't be able to, their only choices will be homeschool or move, because Karen has befriended everyone important and installed herself as a pillar of the community.
As for me, a woman who gives a shit about merit, I find this horrifying.
