I think there's some truth to what Martelevision is saying: the decade-long stream of $200 million+ mega-event films with stories catered to (man)children was only sustainable when there was wide releases, and people needed something to do. So they went to the movies and watched stuff like JJ Abrams Trek, MCU, and the Transformers movies, if for nothing else than to kill a few hours and get out of the summer heat.

And then Corona-chan, that filthy whore, comes and ruins everything with a mass pandemic. So, theaters close, and people have to find something else to entertain themselves. Instead of going to see the latest mediocre blockbuster featuring brand you know, they get on Netflix or Amazon Prime to to either see original version of brand you know, or something new and original. Maybe they discover some classic films they had never seen before, and had never bothered to look at because they never thought to. In my own case, the pandemic got me rewatching Star Trek: The Next Generation on Amazon, which in addition to hitting the nostalgia feels actually provided some decent television entertainment, with even the otherwise awful first season containing some absolute gems.

Now as we approach 2021, even with social distancing and revamped theaters, and the introduction of a coronavirus vaccine, here's the question - how many people are going to go back to the theaters. And I don't mean they avoid it out of safety - I mean that they avoid it because it doesn't even occur to them to go to the movies since they haven't been to the movies in forever. Human beings are creatures of habit, and if the habit that's been developed over these past few months is to just sit down and watch stuff on streaming services instead of going to the movies, what could possibly convince enough people to change that?

So yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if more than a few Hollywood people are seeing the writing on the wall, and understand that the old ways of doing things aren't going to cut it in the future - which means that the CGI-fest popcorn flicks we've gotten over the past decade are going to be seriously trimmed. Whether or not Bob himself recognizes and understands this is debatable, though, since we all know Bob is an ignorant dullard.

That pretty much explains why the early Christians had a lot of female martyrs, even though the Nicene Christianity that would later evolve into Catholicism and Orthodoxy had little to no female presence in their leadership. Saving someone's life earns you their loyalty to the bone.
