You buy new computers around January, February. Sometimes even the second hand market is flooded with good parts for cheap because people upgraded and purge their old hardware or sell gifts. Buying new systems shortly before Christmas was always a sucker's game IMO. Honestly goes for most things. Shopping before Christmas is often a ripoff. That's why you gift money.

Moore’s points out in his latest video that NVIDIA’s business with miners might explain the discrepancies between shipment and delivery numbers.



At $700 a pop that would be 250,000 3080's going straight into Chinese firetraps. If true. Maybe cryptodicks are showing a small sign of sanity and are avoiding the 3090 like everyone else.

Apparently Eth 2.0 will benefit greatly from gddr6x vs gddr6, so maybe miners this gen will hit the 3080's instead of the Radeon.

I just want to push 4k @ 60 fps without having 95% of graphics on low/off. Tbh, I'm starting to think of just waiting for new gen, if stock doesnt improve. Newegg (when the stock drops) is asking for same or more for 6800xt aib as 3080 aib, tfw the retailer is using scalpers prices.

Yeah it's been awhile since I've bought from newegg. They went to shit after being bought by Chinese.

At 1080p the 580 is still honestly a great card. And 1080p makes up >90% of all PC gamers according to steam. At 1440p a 5700xt or 2070 does great.

The new cards look amazing for high FPS gamers, those of us sticking to 1080p/1440p60 dont need much more then a 5700xt/6700xt.

Pretty much. Also depends on what you're playing. Most demanding game I load up is either FFXIV or War Thunder. Not exactly the highest of metrics lol.

Older brother was looking to throw a little machine together to play some older stuff like battlefield vietnam and c&c generals. Told him shit, ryzen apu will handle that no problem.

Still figuring out to properly set graphics on some games for the first time (also have 580) but on gta v at least, I can max out most settings and still reach 110-120 fps on it so I'm really loving the card.

I have a RX 580 on my 2nd machine and it's still more than good enough for 1080p high detail on most games. If you have a budget and don't mind used, it's still the best choice for most gamers.

I was regretting the 1660 Super I got late 2019 for $220 seeing the new card hype, but it's looking better and better as time goes on. Especially now since it appears the 3050 Ti will be close to 2060 performance but with Ray Tracing, DLSS for $250 MSRP. Meh.

And you won't be able to get it because of fucking scalpers and other pondlife.

Speaking of which, I'm hoping to get the week of 7 December off because I need to use up my leave. Coincidentally, the Radeon 6900XT arrives that week. How inexcusable a level of consoomerism would it be to drive up to Scan's office at 3 am on launch day and camp outside to be first to get one when sales open. Because someone did that on launch day of the RTX 3070 and got upgraded to an RTX 3080, which they just happened to have lying around the place. While claiming that they were still fulfilling the orders lodged in the first three hours of sales of same.

Though knowing my luck and given that Big Navi is an even paperier part than Ampere, I'd get there and be told that none of them have been delivered in the first place. Yeah, that's a bad idea.

I hope AMD puts out a good sub 75W RX 6500 as competition. My mini TV PC can only take sub 75W dual slot half height cards. At the moment the best is the 1650, but I'm still on a RX 560. The 1650 was tempting but I decided to wait until the hopeful 7/8nm successor, but everything I've seen points to the 3050 being a 90w card costing, as you said, $250, or $100 more then it should.

It looks very good for a 60 series card, 59fps avg in Shadow of the Tomb Raider at 4K versus 59.9fps in the same game for the RTX 2080 Super and 65.7fps for the RTX 3070. It's close to 60fps@4K in RDR2 and Horizon as well and RT performance is equal to the 2080 Super.

At $399 it doesn't line up with other 60 series cards in price, it's more expensive than the 1070 was. I read some rumor that the non-TI will still have 6GB of memory and that makes me think that they might put 4GB on the 3050 and bump the price to $250 or something like that, then a 3050Ti with 6GB for $320. For an entry level card! I'm making this shit up as I type and I'm already upset.
