Redditors will always be skidmarks, but at least these guys are funny and, to a point twisted but character building, enlightening. No shit are they missing out big parts of still-celebrated Chinese culture that implicate China as poorly as, say, Britain. What's funny is that they are so unapologetic, to the point I have learnt so much more of the communist position just from looking through these posts for abt an hour than I ever have from Skeptics™ or from the kind of middle-class fundies that put their hands in their crotch over Current Year™ and free gibs, even if that position is retarded. I'm never going to fully agree with these people, but I see where they're coming from sooner than the kinds of women stropping around my campus whilst being funnier to boot.

I have met people like this in real life, but they were Chinese nationalists who thought their country was blameless and everyone else was at fault. The fact it's a bunch of foreigners being nationalist for someone else makes it hilarious. Orwell's "Notes on Nationalism" covered this phenomenon for British fans of the USSR back in the 1940s.

I'm pretty sure they left once the_donald was banned. I really can't imagine many 60 year olds using the site now, except maybe /r/conservative. I think one of their moderators voted for Reagan back in the 1980s. The communist subreddits seem relatively young, in that I don't recall anyone much talking about being personally involved in the 20th century New Left.
