This is Bob in a nutshell. Always trying to grab hold of a ring that is well out of his intellectual reach, missing, and not skipping a beat before doubling down on his completely wrong premise.

I don't know if he has a deep insecurity that causes him to do this in hopes that people will be fooled into thinking he is some kind of genius or if he really doesn't know that he misunderstands almost everything that he talks about.

But one of the most grating things about this guy is he is constantly using language and concepts incorrectly, not just twisting the meaning but he can't even connect things into a coherent sentence.

Ignoring for a moment that religious schisms and reconciliations were a thing for thousands of years before Christianity, Nicea was the exact opposite of a fan movement. If he had said the Arian controversy/heresy it would have at least matched the stupid concept that he was trying to link in spite of being a fairly late example of the phenomenon in human history.

I haven't watched any of the WB DC shows in like 3 or so years it seems like, but I'm glad to see that Matt Ryan is still playing Constantine. Before he did voice work for the movies he was on a Constantine show in 2015 on NBC, I thought it was pretty good, I was apparently one of the only ones who thought so though so it got only one season. He was a more faithful version of the character than the Reeves version.

Well, sort of kind off. Like the Reeves version it's still not close enough to the comics, since in the comics Constantine was an A-grade douchebag who'd usually use anyone he could just so he'd get away scot-free. Here, they try to play him as the type who does want redemption and get into Heaven to clean away from his sins, while in the comic he hated both Angels and Demons, considering Heaven full of pompous wankers.

It's a movie about the bureaucracy and shittyness of the modern Japanese government. It draws on the imagery of the 2011 tsunami, in a similar manner the original Godzilla drew imagery from the dropping of the atomic bombs. It uses the original as a base and modernizes the message for a modern Japan. It's not just about how the government would react.

Making a mental note that the next MCU movie is called "Black Widow" in the event Bob randomly starts tweeting spider facts.


I actually tried looking up earlier if Bob had said anything about Shin Godzilla but couldn't find anything. Considering how recent it is and how much praise it got you'd think Bob (who is supposedly such a huge fan) would have said something about it. That he apparently didn't only further shows that Bob only cares about the silly schlocky "Godzilla vs ____" movies rather than any which try to convey more serious themes like the original.

I saw Shin Godzilla recently and could confirm it really is more of a grounded take focusing more on how the government would handle a godzilla attack rather than monsters fighting each other. If Bob were to review it, he'd complain how it takes all the fun out of godzilla and tries too hard to be adult. Basically it would be like how Bob complains about Batman properties taking themselves seriously, though if he did go into the politics of Shin Godzilla, he'd try to bring parallels to America's handling of COVID if he wanted to be woke.
