Didn't mean to imply that you were trying to bamboozle people. Just that looking at how many actually end up resubscribing, which is less and less every month, is a good indicator of interest. I'm not a math so maybe I'm totally wrong on that but the decline is definitely noticeable.

They’re basically casting couch gigs. By being on this totally cool and popular podcast, they can put it on their resume and get a better acting role elsewhere. The entertainment industry has no shortage of these; almost every actress (and many actors) has sucked and fucked for most of their roles when starting out. However there is no pipeline from TDS to some acting role. Dax towards the end started focusing more on foreign girls because he thought they were more naive. Even that well has run dry. I’m guessing putting TDS on the resume hurts more than helps, considering his reputation at UCB.

I looked at the timecode for the latest episode of the Dick Show and it's 2 hours and 26 minutes long. Last week's show was 2 hours and 50 minutes long and a couple weeks ago he did a show that was over three hours. Dick, have you never heard of the old saying "Leave them wanting more?" There's a reason why comedy specials are usually an hour long. Any longer than that and it just gets exhausting.

And the Dick Show isn't the only "comedy" podcast guilty of doing this. I use to like WATP, but lately Karl has been doing a lot of 2+ hour long shows and it's a chore to listen to now. Redbar is the worst offender since a short show for Mike now of days is six hours.

Here's some advice: If you are making a video or a podcast and it's approaching Seven Samurai territory in terms of length, ask yourself "Is this better than Seven Samurai?" If the answer is no (and it inevitably will be), then it's time to start cutting shit out.

1) I've never seen anyone say "now of days" before, so that's interesting. I checked, and it's not archaic. https://www.etymonline.com/word/nowadays

2) The 3 hour runtime is a big part of why I kept listening so long, but "is it about the length of this one dude's average delivery run" is maybe not the best artistic criterion. No way in hell I ever listened to the show when the truck was parked.
