I don't really know how to say, why do people care a lot about fiction in general, in a good way. I was mainly just wondering why people would care enough for a thread to be made. It's always looked like a 2edgy4me place.

Check my user statistics again. I really don't spend that much time there. I was fairly active in the first quarter of 2012, but my interest faded fast.

1) Because shit is fucked up and we wanted to discuss it. My first post in this thread discussed only the concept of "origin and intent" ie. what I restated to you about the source of MLP being extremely jarring to see with abuse and rape superimposed on it (and how the absolute removal of consent is a running theme in the porn).

2) Sometimes an example for compare/contrast is good to conceptualise: I was active in the Creepypasta community for only a short space of time between March-August last year; disengaging when I learned the people were batshit and the Waukesha creepypasta incident occured (and gave thought to how such an interest reflects upon me when ordinary people learn of such a thing). That does not mean I am any less invested in the culture and its bizzairety now, and would not actively discuss it in capacity when its appropriate. Your activity in the primary vector means nothing when you seek out or actively engage in discussion and, more importantly, blindly defend your interests with no thought to how the 'ordinary person' would view it.

Yes, I of course agree with that now. Disengaging from MLP didn't make me consider that now though. I only ever thought that this is 4chan's creation, who cares? I never really intended to defend this, just get an inquiry on why people cared.

People are naturally curious. We were curious why someone would need an explanation for why we're examining in morbid curiosity a community that engages in this sort of activity, especially when that question comes in the form of

"Just out of curiosity though, why do people care so much about fictional beings that are defenseless being killed in horrifying ways for the "fuck you, that's why." reason?"

cause I mean, c'mon. Do you really need us to spell out why people find this sort of thing weird? Not to mention the fact that that question, phrased that way, just screams "I'm into this stuff. Please stop making fun of it," defensiveness.

Circumstances like that make naturally curious people investigate. That's why people googled your name. There's a reason the signup page says "don't use the same username you use elsewhere".
