I am a vocal opponent of Hanlons Razor, but I firmly believe that Trump is a retard rather than duplicitously malicious. Having good and driven advisors rather than yesmen is a good idea for choosing your executives, it just doesn't translate to politics. In business you have an abstract goal, money, and whatever methods your executives use to get that dolla don't matter to you. In politics your goals are not abstract and translatable, they are distinct and discrete. If your chief of staff isn't doing exactly what you told him to, shit gets fucked fast.

Eh, sorta? The problem for Trump is that he can't bring in outsiders easily. Like the DoJ position that Barr currently occupies. Trump was told by Congress that he can't bring in outsiders because Congress won't approve them. Apparently he actually still has some positions in deadlock right now because he brought in outsiders for some positions but Mitch McConnel won't approve them because they are DC outsiders. The only reason that Barr is in the DoJ right now is because he's the only one Trump could appoint and that McConnell would approve in the Senate, and Trump can't run on temporary appointees forever because they have to be switched out regularly. So I think in this instance we are seeing the result of 4 years of Mitch McConnell shitting the bed because Trump is trying to get rid of DC creatures.

And we see exactly what a disaster Barr and the Keebler Elf have been, they are slow walking everything Trump says and does because they reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee at the idea of prosecuting anyone else in DC. So imagine this effect but spread across the entire government.

And another fucking thing: I think internet users have some responsibility too.

We blew our load on the repeal of net neutrality and we blew our second load on the EU's meme police, and now we have nothing left to give on 230. So frankly Trump is a retard and DC is deadlocking him which means his only viable way to get back at SV is to threaten to veto any bill that doesn't repeal their legal protection.

And that cascaded into shrinking political will to stop the EU meme cop shit which ended up going fucking no where anyway which made us look like idiots.

Everyone made this bed. So maybe its only fair that we lie in it.

If enough of Congress is on board with Trump they won't give two fucks what everyone thinks. They're losing their jobs in a month so who cares that they just pissed everyone off? Its the equivalent of putting in your two weeks and showing up drunk while playing video games all day and complementing the secretary on her tits.
