I remember that xkcd cartoon mocking Youtube comments idiocy but the weird thing is for niche technical stuff I've seen some interesting conversations by very well-informed people in the Youtube comments. A lot more informed than the Reddit-tier circlejerk that is the xkcd forums actually.

always saying this means the US should give China everything it wants.
It's like when people mention 'the lessons of the 1930s' or 'the dangers of appeasement' what they mean is that the US should not give China anything.
Obviously, the latter group is right and the former group is wrong.
It's something Thatcher fought hard against in the UK in the 70s.
