As have I once I tired of the dooming and glooming both regarding COVID and regarding the media's endless hateboner for Trump and anything with any sort of conservative beliefs while claiming the Democrats would fix everything wrong with the US.
The only person I've seen wearing a shield is an older person who might be able to wear masks for a legitimate health reason. I find it confusing
that visors are allowed in lieu of masks but they're somehow inadequate for hockey players that wear them as part of their normal gear when the powers that be deiced that hockey was too unsafe to allow for the time being.
I don't know if there's been actual studies, but I don't actually think the face shields accomplish anything beyond making you look like a fucking jackass. I see a lot of really old people and people with COPD wearing them because the masks aren't doable for them, I don't think they know or care if it does anything but they just want to be let into Wal Mart.
The lower face shields are a whole different level of ridiculous.
Can't remember if I mentioned it in this thread or not but shout out to the guy I saw in like April going around with an old fashioned plague doctor mask. I hope he's still doing his thing. I'd get one if I had the patience or the balls, but that would be a really dumb way to get fired.
Ontario is having screenings to be let into private businesses. They just ask you if you have symptoms or have travelled but I guaranfuckingtee precisely no one is gonna say yes when they have shit to do and it's just creating long lines. The screenings can be replaced with signage which I'm sure is just as useful. Places are enforcing capacity limits again, there's so much fucking work for entry level private security guys right now it's ridiculous. I saw signs a few weeks ago that places were going to take down your information for contact tracing but they're gone now and I never heard anything else about that, so I don't know what that was about.
Government is shilling some Covid app that they stress is completely secure, private, voluntary, and anonymous. I'm sure that information (which if you have phone service is tied to your actual identity plus whatever Google/Apple has on you) being routed through a bunch of private computers belonging to the thousands of nobodies hired to work remotely as contact tracers has no vulnerable spots. Information about test results is apparently being relayed through the fucking thing too but I'm not clear on how that works. That kind of seems like it's chewing up PHIPA and shitting out its corpse but what do I know.
Vaccine is being administered on a small time basis apparently? It won't be "mandatory" but there's talk of various ways of bullying people into it. Having corona and recovering would not make you exempt by the way. The fuck is that about? I can slime my way out of it with medical exemptions or religious objection but if it comes down to it, it's not hard to get fake documents and I will not narc on people who do. I don't want to kick up shit with the Human Rights Tribunal because they are scummy Yaniv-enabling faggots but I'm not above playing dirty and getting them involved. They defend niggers who get caught shoplifting and complain they would have got away with it if they weren't black, they defend troons who want to wank in the ladies' room, surely some asshole who doesn't want a mostly experimental vax because of [bullshit idpol reason/medical reason] is a slam dunk.
Toronto is on "lockdown" but for some reason the daily traffic jams are still the exact same. The news mentioned "unconventional solutions" to potential ICU shortages and implied it's gonna be something like pop up military hospitals but I think it really means they're going to dump their trash on Hamilton (and to a lesser extent Halton and Niagara) and deny it like usual, like they do with their nursing home people, jailbirds and bums. Toronto is fucking pozzed and the people with money and sense are all fleeing into huge, beautiful properties out west where they can work remotely now, so that's a good thing I guess, health care and other services are sketchy out there but it should get better if the communities grow. I know a lot of people hate or can't work well remotely (and get lazy) but tbh God bless Zoom, so much officey shit can be done at home if you've got a good connection and the discipline to do it. I foresee data security becoming a massive issue though.
Oh and there are a bunch of scammers calling people and asking for their social insurance number and shit telling them they'll be put on a list for corona vaccine. I like to think no one would be that stupid but I've met someone who fell for fake "account suspended" texts from her "bank" like every fucking month so I know rubes are out there. Plus people with dementia and shit. Logically they would need your health card number and not your SIN but you can't get payday loans with a health card number. People who give strange pajeets who call them from random private numbers identifying info probably aren't so great with logic though. Jokes aside - Kiwis, if you know any kids or gullible boomers who may be susceptible to this, please warn them.
