Money 6/22 - New eBay account

I do have to admit Chris is being smart in using his lolcow status to get money. Sure, he goes about it in a completely retarded way but if he hadn't been discovered all those years ago he wouldn't have this stream of income right now. Probably helps right now what with Barb leeching off his :tugboat: for :qsand:

Even if Fatty sells these for like 10 bucks a pop he's still making bank - unlike the medallions or the Amiibos the material costs are pretty much next to nothing unless he decides to print the photos in that high quality glossy stuff.

Okay, I know I said this months ago but Chris is seriously asking for an ebay ban. They have selling limits for a reason you idiot, it is EXTREMELY HARD to get around them. You need different IPs, google voice, gift cards to set up a new paypal, and a bunch of other stuff. I really doubt he did anything but think "hurr durr I'll use a different email address!" people do this all the time to get around ebay's account limits and you get in deep shit for it.
On the plus side, Chris isn't exactly selling anything in a hot category. Ebay keeps a close eye on purses, jewelry, computer parts, etc. selling your clay figures and pictures of yourself might not be enough to really get on their radar.

Just did some research.

According to eBay's policy having multiple accounts is allowed. However, they expressly forbid having multiple accounts to bypass restrictions or limits.

If you have two accounts, you are supposed to keep them seperate. No cross-postings, different email addresses, etc. Apparently you can link multiple accounts to one paypal. eBay does warn that if you have multiple accounts and one account gets disciplined, the discipline will apply to all accounts. What I don't quite understand about that is how eBay knows you are operating multiple accounts.

They do not formally define what it means to use an account to bypass limits. But Chris did say that he is starting a new account to get new selling limits. So that makes it sound like he is breaking the rules.

On the other hand, I am not quite sure what he is supposed to do. His other account is currently being disciplined, but is still active (he is still selling those coins). Does that mean that the rule that he is not allowed to open multiple accounts doesn't apply to him anymore? Or that he is supposed to keep his combined sales below the limit from his other account? Is he in charge of applying that discipline? The rule seems confusing enough that I am not sure how he is supposed to follow the rules if he wanted to.

Ebay has a bunch of different ways to detect multiple accounts and they're more advanced than people might think. I've heard of people's entire families getting banned from ebay because their niece or nephew or whatever did something against the rules multiple times (granted, you have to do a lot) and used their auntie's computer or their name or something. They use your address, your name, your email/paypal addresses, your bank account (and if you try to sign up a new paypal with a bank account that has your name on it they know that too) cookies, flash cookies, obviously ip addresses and some other stuff. Since paypal and ebay are splitting I'm less sure about the paypal/ebay connection but I'm sure they know what they are doing. This is a big issue for them and they ban people a LOT.
Chris is purposefully using this account to get around ebay's restrictions which is a big no-no. And he is definitely doing that. If his first account has a limit of $500 and this one has a limit of $100, and he makes $550 with $50 on the new account, or whatever, that is a pretty clear violation. Ebay probably put these restrictions on him due to the weens, but ebay really doesn't care, a lot of people will get their accounts banned because a competitor with a little more knowledge or some buddies will decide to bring them down and ebay's customers service sucks and won't listen.

Nope - OPL to this day thinks he's famous because of recognition that he created Sonichu and all of that is a good thing for him. He's still entirely oblivious to the online laughing stock he's been for almost a decade.

I have actually BEEN awarded the "Captain Fucking Obvious' trophy! Thank you mods!

Oh what a day! What a lovely day!

Now go spray chrome on your mouth and drive into a giant fucking duststorm.

On topic, I'm willing to bet that this'll be one of those situation where Chris just slips through the cracks and avoids repercussions.
I also thought the market for these things would have dried up ages ago, but with some sales already it would seem that I'm wrong.

now it all makes sense

the reason chris was sperging about the word pristine before was because he was looking for words that rhymed with christine, probably for the purposes of coming up with a name he could use at clubs to woo the lesbians.

pristine christine doesn't make sense though because the concept of pristine does not describe him in any way.

he clearly just googled Christine and came up with this list http://www.wordhippo.com/what-is/words-that-rhyme-with/christine.html

that list had lots of great rhyming phrases, but personally if I was Chris the one that would have made the most sense was 'Closet Queen Christine'

I am surprised someone has not bought a photo, made some high-res copies of it, and sold it for half as much.

If someone wanted to send him over the edge, that would be the way to do it. What is he going to do at this point? He opened two accounts selling the same damn crap so someone else might as well actually profit off it.

Ah, yes, that one! Seriously, the bastard sent somebody an item that wasn't what was described on purpose purely because he got buttmad over something.

Not foolproof, though - ironically, because OPL is too fucking lazy to not copy-paste entire ebay descriptions, the new account could get nailed for listing copypasta postings stolen from jesusguidesme2.

Happened to me last year when I bought a misrepresented item. Reverse image search led me to where the pic was used in another user's listing, which proved the item wasn't what it was claimed to be. I got my refund, but eBay didn't care to penalize my seller for stealing pics unless the other seller came forward to bitch. There's even an advisory on the report item link if you're reporting copied listings, contact the user they stole from, not eBay. ("The listing has pictures or text taken from your eBay listing without your permission. If the pictures or text belong to someone else, please contact the owner so they can report it to us directly").

Interesting.

Chris' original "infractions" which caused him to have his account limited weren't that bad.

It was based on negative feedback, but most of the negative feedback was either weening or pretty hair trigger. Negative feedback on eBay is supposed to only be done for serious issues and after trying to resolve it with the seller. Not because the product was shoddy or a couple days late. It's not the equivalent of leaving a negative yelp review for a restaurant, it's more the equivalent of reporting them to the Better Business Bureau.

So I think Chris has a reason to feel annoyed about his limits. But as you say, he is getting around them. I am sure they have some sort of detection software hunting down people who violate bans/limits, and there is no way Chris was smart enough to evade that. Anyway, he will probably be tattled on. At that point, I am sure eBay won't really give a shit about figuring out the details. Banning him is a "better safe than sorry" type maneuver that he is on the precipice of.

I would feel bad for him, but it seems like he always has the option of moving to some other platform like etsy. I can't imagine any of his sales are based on random people on ebay, and the Christorians interested in buying his crap will follow him to any reasonable and secure site.

Christine "Pristine" Weston Chandler... He might as well have that as his legal name since the word Pristine is adding more to his ego as it is. I guess soon enough, it's CPWC instead of CWC.
