Queen Gorgo of Sparta would be a fantastic example of a genuinely kickass woman. She managed to rule and be respected in Sparta, a hypermasculine culture. She was both the daughter, the wife, and the mother of kings. Her husband was Leonidas I, you know, the guy at Thermopylae. She was once asked why Spartan women were the only ones who could rule men and answered because we're the only ones who give birth to men.
