Money 6/22 - New eBay account

He's pulled the listing after only selling 4 of the 10. Wanna bet that Vanity Fair logo is a registered trademark?

I looked an hour ago, no items for sale. Followed FB link, he had six. Now that you said something, I follow the FB link again and now he has five available. It let me add it to my cart, but I sure as hell wasn't proceeding to the checkout. I don't know what's up with it.

Interesting.

Chris' original "infractions" which caused him to have his account limited weren't that bad.

It was based on negative feedback, but most of the negative feedback was either weening or pretty hair trigger. Negative feedback on eBay is supposed to only be done for serious issues and after trying to resolve it with the seller. Not because the product was shoddy or a couple days late. It's not the equivalent of leaving a negative yelp review for a restaurant, it's more the equivalent of reporting them to the Better Business Bureau.

So I think Chris has a reason to feel annoyed about his limits. But as you say, he is getting around them. I am sure they have some sort of detection software hunting down people who violate bans/limits, and there is no way Chris was smart enough to evade that. Anyway, he will probably be tattled on. At that point, I am sure eBay won't really give a shit about figuring out the details. Banning him is a "better safe than sorry" type maneuver that he is on the precipice of.

I would feel bad for him, but it seems like he always has the option of moving to some other platform like etsy. I can't imagine any of his sales are based on random people on ebay, and the Christorians interested in buying his crap will follow him to any reasonable and secure site.

Just a bit of hair splitting, but the BBB has no real power. It's Yelp for old people. Hell Yelp has more teeth because it's fucking predatory. Seriously their shit is messed up

On topic, I predict the same set of events as always will happen. Chris makes a bunch, sells a bunch, maybe a few are late, then a few weens leave negative reports when it isn't deserved yet, and OPL thrown what everyone assumes to be a massive tardrage fit when he's really just sorta irritatedly typing at a computer.

Oh right and people will get embarassingly angry at whatever dumbasses buy Chris merch.

Did I cover all the bases?

Do we have any official confirmation?

Also, Pristine Christine sounds like a Victorian era hooker. *sigh*

I think we all can agree that nothing says "pristine" like a greasy, smelly fat guy with a five o'clock shadow.

I can sort of understand buying a medallion or amibo and it gives Chris a rightful sense of accomplishment, which is good. The 8×10s though...oh Lord. I sincerely hope he hasn't sold many of those because the last thing he needs is positive reinforcement that he looks fabulous without proper hygiene let alone beauty care.

I think a lot of people are going to be more interested in the sketch that comes with the photo than the actual photo itself. At least I was. (Not that I bought one, but if someone did, I hope they post their sketches.)

eBay does have a kind of program to deal with this, it's called Guardrail
If Chrises old account is currently restricted it means ebay/their programs have put him on suspicion. You really have to have a stellar record to get off of it and even if you do get your restrictions lifted it's kind of a black mark on your ebay record that doesn't ever go away. Making a new account is just adding to their list of reasons why he's a shitty seller. Better safe than sorry is like their motto. Even if all the negative feedback just said JULAAAY there is a good chance they would just see that it's a lot of bad feedback from different people and think this person is a problem they don't need to deal with. The best way to get negative feedback and bad DSR (1 star) ratings off your account is to call ebay and smooth talk them and I think we all know how adept Chris would be at calling anybody. Otherwise they don't really have a lot of time to investigate what every negative feedback is for. I guess you can try writing them, I don't think he'd do well at that either.
Chris really just needs to find a new platform. I don't know why he doesn't, other than being dumb and really set in his ways. He probably used ebay to buy sonic games in 2001 and he's really set with it. Otherwise etsy or storenvy would be really perfect for him.

Why don't people ever ask him to draw things that kind of show his opinion? Like "Draw how you think your life will be like in 10 years". Will he not draw that kind of stuff? It just seems more interesting than asking him to draw Clyde Cash or Sonichu/Rosechu fighting something.

There was also the issue of the doxing. If it was just negative feedback, I can't imagine they'd have limited his account so quickly.

Yeah, I feel like the negative feedback was a little exaggerated, but it was his reaction that really screwed things up. Nobody's going to be willing to buy from someone who's willing to dox them, especially not someone with a swarm of weens surrounding them like Chris. If eBay lets its users get away with that kind of thing, they're going to be in serious trouble. It'd have to be happening, on a large-scale basis, not just Chris, but they're not going to make an exception for him.

Is eBay aware of the doxing?

I agree that that was the worst thing he did. Although it would take some knowledge of Chris to see why. You would have to understand that his facebook account is followed by a lot of people unrelated to him, and that some of those people tend to pull shenanigans with those associated with Chris. If most people doxed someone who pissed them off on eBay, nothing would happen except their facebook friends getting confused. Figuring out the seriousness of Chris doxing someone probably goes into the category of "shit eBay won't bother to do".

I would imagine they are aware of the doxing, just because I'm sure someone reported it.

And, eh, I don't think Chris' notoriety is what makes the doxing bad, from ebay's perspective. I mean, of course it actually makes the act much more serious, but still, I think the intent of "hey, harass this guy! *address*" would be enough for them to take action. That looks pretty bad.

Actually, did we get a stated reason for his selling limits? It couldn't have just been bad ratings, right? On ebay, it says that, in the past twelve months, he's got 235 positive reviews, 3 neutral and 3 negative. I'm probably forgetting something.

I do have to admit Chris is being smart in using his lolcow status to get money. Sure, he goes about it in a completely retarded way but if he hadn't been discovered all those years ago he wouldn't have this stream of income right now. Probably helps right now what with Barb leeching off his :tugboat: for :qsand:

Even if Fatty sells these for like 10 bucks a pop he's still making bank - unlike the medallions or the Amiibos the material costs are pretty much next to nothing unless he decides to print the photos in that high quality glossy stuff.

The margin on the amiibos is very slim since he's buying the materials retail. And let's not forget labor cost... these things probably take forever to make. Yes, Chris has a lot of time on his hands, but that's still time that could be used on other efforts.

The autograph sales are much smarter because of the higher margin and reduced risk. He's only paying for the cost to print and shipping with very little labor cost - all he needs to do is sign the picture and ship it. There's also reduced risk of poor quality and things falling apart like the amiibos. So it's actually a good idea and it's not surprising he sold over 100 of these a while back.

We all know how much I think its crap how Chris is using eBay like this (and you really are such fools for paying for his stupid arts and crafts).

When another Coty Smith incident happens, don't say I didn't warn you. Especially since Chris will handle this eBay crap exactly the same, slothy, lazy way.

Maybe he handled one of those negative ratings particularly badly. I honestly have no clue, though.
