Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

I have a question to all of you guys, would you take the Coronavirus vaccine? Why or why not?
My job may mandate I do, but I imagine I would be on the 2nd or 3rd line behind nursing home patients, healthcare workers, first responders and teachers. I'm certainly not going to go out of my way for it, just going to continue to do the basics to protect myself without becoming a full on coof cultist.

I might, depending on the actual efficacy of the vaccine. Last thing I need at this point in my life is for either of my parents to get infected, considering my mother in particular is old enough for this virus to be a legitimate threat should she contract it.

The fact that nobody can say for certain at this point should be ringing alarm bells for many more people than it is right now.
Everyone around here - from the average person to people who work in hospitals and libraries - always say "I don't know" in reply to "when will things go back to normal". I think it's quite possible this tyrannical insanity over what should be a regular disease may very well be here to stay. Unless - and like you said - enough people start resisting, that is. Which may not happen.

And like I said, one really crazy thing about this dumpster fire is that it's made something previously normal only to Muslim women now normal to all: covering the face. Ironically symbolic?

"conspiracy theorist"
In Super Clown World 2020, "conspiracy theory" seems to be "wokespeak" for "anything that goes against The Narrative®".

stuff that I don't understand is why keeping this insanity? What the government gain in it? It will only lead to a very reduced tax season

Big businesses are thriving and small businesses are dying. A lot of money and wealth could be changing hands. In which case, I am sure the politicians will get their cut one way or another.

It's conditioning people to Trust The Science® and Listen And Believe®. Governments now have control over people they could only dream of in 2019. 2020 is good to tech giants who work with governments and enjoy this new isolation and "virtual events".

All of this bullshit just caps off a slow change I've been noticing - first a few years ago seeing what used to be blue-collar after-work bars turning more "yuppie" and are now SocJus hangouts (or just closing down as the industry shuttered and the regulars aged out). Lately, one of my friends who used to be "punk" and edgy (wore a shirt that said Club Baby Seals on it while jamming back in the day) is now fully onboard with both SocJus and the masks - he even has a RAINBOW mask hanging from his rearview. Many such cases!

I may be a little Sheldon-like in my aversion to change, but fucking hell this is just too much. Everything has done a 180 on me (2020 really solidified this feeling) and I can't make heads or tails of the new social order, of which I seem to be near the bottom being a white Gen X female Trump supporter. I don't recognize my friends anymore (the precious few that I do have), and my acquaintance circle has drastically shrunk (there's literally nowhere to go even if I wanted to just to have a drink and bullshit around with non-PC people). I always have to watch what I say *insert assumption that what you said was racist when you never said anything about race. Using 'Section 8' and 'baboon' in the same sentence is enough to set someone off. It's a core component of some of my more exciting stories, dammit!

Big daddy government used to be the core target of punk's rebellion. It seems now that being a questioning conservative is the new "punk," but even more dangerous to express socially if you care about that kind of thing, which I increasingly do not.
I've said it before in another thread, but it's been like watching people join a cult en masse over the span of a few years. If you've ever had a friend suddenly find religion or join a MLM scheme, you know how it goes: All you want to do is just hang out with them like you always have in the past, but now it's awkward and uncomfortable because even though you haven't changed, you're now an "outsider" to them.

I'm wondering in many year from now how we will see the situation?
I'm guessing that it will eventually be seen as the mass hysteria event that it is, and will be regarded in a similar manner to satanic panic or Y2K. Of course, the people who are contributing the most to the insanity right now will never acknowledge their part in it, or even that they were wrong -- they'll just kind of laugh and go "wow, yeah, that coronavirus thing sure was crazy! 'Member how everyone rushed out to buy toilet paper?"

And nobody will learn anything from it in the long run, because they never do.

It's concerning that we are already seeing so many things cancelled for 2021. I'm telling you, that HBO Max announcement terrified me because it's basically an admission that not even this summer is safe.
Did you see the Disney investor thing today as well? They're making a "strong pivot" to streaming.
At this point it may be better to be an anti-vaxxer than someone who "trusts the science" and mindlessly obeys like in a cult...
But it's not even science they're trusting. It's the media and the "I fucking love science" PopSci productions.

No, this ish sounds way too familiar.

It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name.

Revelations 13:16-17.
Yea, I wore the muzzle to go shopping. But, I am not injecting something into me so that I can consoom. I'd rather be taken away to the re-education camps or whatever else they have in store for those who do not comply. Hopefully, I am gay and wrong. But, this shit is too weird.

Last week, I went to a salon for the first time in over a year. Got a much-needed haircut. It felt awesome, and a lot of people I know found out and have been actively lecturing me ... To which I've finally told them to mind their own damn business. Going out for something that was pampering and fun, especially when I don't go out much these days anyway, does not make me a superspreader. Mental health is every bit as important as physical health, and it's insane how that notion has been thrown out the window in a span of a single year.

I have a question to all of you guys, would you take the Coronavirus vaccine? Why or why not?
Absolutely not ... For now. I plan to wait a few years before even considering it. Physical side effects to vaccines can and absolutely HAVE happened before.

I am by no means an anti-vaxxer. I am very pro-vaccine under normal circumstances. Being very weary of a brand-new vaccine that was rushed/fast-tracked does not make me anti-science, nor does it make me an evil person, thankyouverymuch. If this means I can't go to concerts for a while, then so be it.

Not to powerlevel too much, but as someone who is currently "family planning," there has absolutely been a genuine concern among fertile-age women about the COVID vaccines in the past few weeks. Some ingredients that have been disclosed have raised a few red flags among women and they are worried about this shit fucking up their reproductive systems. Reading into this has certainly scared me enough to say "no thank you" to the vaccine right now. If I were a senior citizen, I would probably have no problems taking it right away. Right now, though? No way.

Lecturing you for what? Was the salon not following the same WuFlu guidelines most salons are (masks for all, temperature checks, have you been exposed questionnaire)?

"Listen, alls Im sayin is, maybe you get the shot, but then if you don't and then something bad happens to you, and yer wife, I's don'ts wants to tell ya I tolds ya so. I means is, if you don'ts do as I says is, if you don't takes the shot, it will be a shame if I's got to send the state police overs to stick their guns up your wife's and daughter's pussy to gets you to do whats I wants youz to do. Just do what your told" - Andrew Cuomo

Yes because I love the idea of quick fixes. If I was fat I’d definitely be one of those fats who skips right over diet and exercise and wants gastric bypass instead. If I can find a medicalized solution to anything, that’s what I pursue.

Also wrt the Mark of the Beast...that’d be a hell of a payoff we’d get to experience in the final season of the long-running tv series called Human Existence on This Planet. Set up so clearly thousands of seasons ago, truly beautiful, quick someone go update TV Tropes.

Everyone screaming "listen to the science!" reminds me of the South Park atheists.

No because I fall into a category that was specifically excluded from most of the trials, and I'm 90% sure I had covid earlier this year anyway and it was fine. I'll consider it if/when the day comes that it's required to do things like leave the country.

The Australian government has terminated its agreement with Australian biotech company CSL Limited to supply 51m doses of a Covid-19 vaccine being developed by the University of Queensland, after vaccine trial participants returned false positive test results for HIV.

TLDR Australia has been developing a vaccine, using the same mRNA process as Moderna and Pfizer. This is the wonder tech that will teach your immune system to attack the Rona, and only the Rona, by stimulating the production of the targeted spike protein.

They've now shit canned it 'because of the optics'. People don't want to be testing positive to AIDS after being vaccinated.

Not explained in the article, is that the subjects started showing an immune response to HIV as well as Covid. These vaccines seem to be more of shot gun blast than a sniper shot, which doesn't fill me with confidence.
