Actually, that makes a decent case of a withdrawn or even negligent family life. The father probably was focused too much on himself - he may have battled his suicidal tendencies for years. Melinda saw her father in pain, but couldn't do anything for him. Daddy issues like that can lead to an overwhelming need to be loved and accepted by any means necessary. The mother being self destructive probably led to a desire to live out a "perfect family" ideal, where she wanted to outdo her parents by being better than them.

The sexual forwardness? That screams daddy issues too. Usually it's a case of creepy dad making sexual comments or a distant, uncaring father figure.

But that's just a guess on my part. To be honest I'd wager this one is more nature than nurture. Could just be her mom drank when she was in the womb and we got this rotten egg as a result.

She has two older sisters and her mother seemed to have been well liked by everyone. To me, it just looks like the youngest child didn't get enough attention when normally they should.
