"I struggle with this whole “Go woke, go broke” mentality that’s shared, just because I never see these companies go “broke” or learn from the unpopularity these drivel bring in. It seems to me like they’ve got the money to toss, and all they care about is pushing this agenda filled nonsense. You would think that a companies number one interest would be money, right? So wouldn’t you want to appeal to your largest demographic? I keep being told that the SocJus crowd is the vocal minority, yet time and time again companies (seemingly) burn more money to continue with this crap.

Either, in reality, we’re the minority here, or the majority of companies nowadays do not care about money, and just look to push their agendas. I dunno, I guess I come across as a doomer, but I have yet to really see some of these repeated statements (such as the go woke go broke) actually have effect in reality. Take Star Wars for example. Sequels weren’t very popular, and it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that one out. And people keep telling me all Disney cares about is money, right? So if that is the case then, why in the world do they keep doubling down on their garbage? If the majority of their consumers don’t like the sequel crap, wouldn’t it be more beneficial for Disney to outright decanonize and distance themselves from the sequels in an attempt to garner back more goodwill from the (supposed) majority of fans who care? Yet look at their showcase the other day: lots of more tv series with the same nonsense. Kk’s still head, and actual fans still relegated to the dumpster."

Noah's quite the scamp and he has a remarkable footprint online, he used to be a writter for escapist where he wrote really bad rage bait articles even by the low standards of woke clickbait.

Rate me autistic or dumb or whatever, but what’s wrong with Booker T Washington? Wasn’t he a major part of the Harlem Renaissance, or am I confusing him with someone else?

Booker T. Washington is considered a race traitor/house negro/etc. for his moderate views, rejection of separatism and violet revolution, support of capitalism, the Atlanta Compromise, etc.

You're supposed to prefer Du Bois because he was a socialist. Although at the time, Du Bois fully supported Washington's efforts even if they didn't go as far as he wanted.

.I think what's interesting about the Dark phoenix article are four things

1)Dark phoenix was shit.
2) Noah Berlatsky is a middle class white dude with no actual experiance of the black civil rights movement, he just writes bad reviews so is in no way an authority on the subject.
3)Noah fails to establish a viable alternative which either implies he's stupid or he's concluded their is no solution. He also never considers that Respectability Politics isnt the be all and end all of strategy and can be combined with grassroots political campaigning to great effect.
4)X-men as an ongoing series has to continue perpetual conflict between humans and mutants, ergo any strategy employed to resolve things has to fail due to the central conflict of the work. It might be able to provide critique but it will never provide solutions.
