Cyberpunk 2077 Grieving Thread

In normal circumstances, yes that's what should happen. However I've got a bunch of regional games from the same area of the world and they're all known to have poor performance shit like this or a lack of effort/oversight.

Games like Elex shit itself regularly on consoles. Conan Exiles also was majorly fucked on release for a long ass time.

Eurojank is a thing for a reason.

They'll probably do what was done for Final Fantasy XIV and restructure staff, build it from the ground up, or whatever foundation has been formed. Final Fantasy XIV did manage to unfuck itself from the way it tainted the Final Fantasy series.

Some choice parts from the Some Anvils Need To Be Dropped section for this game on TV Tropes:

Gun DPS is the only stat that matters.

Hard disagree. DPS is super freaking misleading. The best sniper rifle I've found is the Power one that does like a thousand damage per hit no charge up no crit. It can kill basically all non-bosses in one hit even if your shooting above your weight, but has low DPS since it takes a second after each shot. Many "high DPS" guns end up being great on paper but less useful than high single damage guns like that rifle or the Carnage shotgun

Without a doubt they do. What is sad is that the Fallout games have better weapon and character customization too. Which is...I mean...really fucking pathetic. It reeks of 'Well, we'll just fix this in post!' or 'Well, people will mod this!'. It feels very insulting to me, really. Don't spit in my face and tell me its a warm summer rain. They took their good will for granted and burned it completely. Hope it was worth it, faggots.

The problem is that its compounded by the utterly ATROCIOUS PS4 and XBox One release. Management basically lied out its ass that they could put it on these consoles and now they're basically going to have to focus nearly everything on fixing these issues. Which is going to basically kill replayability. Without mod support, people will drop the game rapidly. So to salvage their launch, all their post-launch has to go and fix these retarded console releases. Like how in the fuck are they going to make this game playable on that hardware? All of their time is going to be spent on optimization for those two configurations, which leaves no time for the PS5, XBox S or the PC versions. It is blindingly obvious this should have never been released for previous gen consoles and its going to cost them more money than they'd have made.

They'd better fucking pray the mod tools they release is equivalent to the GECK or this game is fucked. Nobody is going to buy DLC for it. I sure as fuck won't. There's so much shit here I'm looking at that mods need to fix and if its a fenced in creator like 'The Witcher 3' was, then I'm not spending another fucking cent on this. Because lets be real, I don't expect them to completely re-work the weapon and armor system. And God help them if they put weapon number limiters in so that you can inflate the weapon variety or some shit like that where its basically hard coded and impossible to re-work game systems. Then I'm completely done.
Another reason for extermination^H*14 happy fun camps for the console pleebs

Yeah, this.

I look at the actual damage, especially since in late game and in boss encounters enemies can begin to Matrix dodge follow up shots, make DPS absolutely worthless when only one bullet will connect out of every 5 or so.

CD Projekt under fire again after Devotion removed from GOG.com

The creators of Cyberpunk 2077, and owners of GOG.com, have reversed plans to publish Taiwanese game Devotion, and their excuse is terrible. Cyberpunk 2077 publisher and developer CD Projekt really can’t catch a break this month and, as with the bug-ridden Cyberpunk, it’s hard to feel much sympathy for them after their latest PR disaster. Earlier in the day Taiwanese developer Red Candle Games announced that critically acclaimed survival horror Devotion would be added to GOG.com, after previously being removed from Steam when the game caused a diplomatic incident involving a meme comparing Chinese president Xi Jinping to Winnie the Pooh. Although Red Candle were ostensibly the ones that removed the game from Steam it was already being review-bombed by Chinese gamers and has never been available again in the West – so it’s appearance on GOG.com was warmly welcomed by horror fans.

The problem is that later in the day CD Projekt made an announcement of their own, stating that the game will not be released on GOG.com after all. The absurdly unconvincing excuse for this was that they made the decision, ‘after receiving many messages from gamers.’

Many on social media have taken this to mean that CD Projekt have come under pressure from Chinese gamers and wanted to make sure that GOG.com wasn’t banned in China, which is something they maybe should have thought of before initially giving Red Candle the go ahead. Forward thinking doesn’t seem to have been the company’s forte lately though, and this is the very last thing that CD Projekt needed after all the controversy over Cyberpunk 2077.

Well, then replace DPS with damage. My point is that only one stat matters for guns, so its not really different

Fuck. Right. Off.

I'm kind of in awe at their ability to burn their business to the ground. Not even Bethesda and EA did it this fast.

:story:

I know you're joking - least I hope so. while CDPR might be the least shit devs out there (jury's still out at this point), even bethesda which mostly sells their biggest games due to how much people crowbarred open the engine still has to rely on the community, which only exists because they use the same easily moddable engine shortsighted people like to complain about. no one is gonna do that for any other engine, if there's even enough drive for it (anyone with that expertise will hardly waste their time on that, for free). how extensive are the mods GTA gets, which has a much bigger playerbase and name? how many did witcher 3 get, which was probably the biggest thing since skyrim considering how people kept jerking each other off over it?

and that's with ignoring for a moment that a dev team which released a game in this state has probably no capacity to release proper mod tools even if the company wanted to (on top all the legal wrangling and additional work required).

at best you'll get performance fixes (downgrades), superficial QOL shit and cut content finished as "free dlc" to get some good will back, but that's it.

next christmas then the first teaser for cyberpunk 2078 and a battle royal multiplayer.

I don't either. I literally cannot comprehend it.

If they went to a restaurant and got crappy food, they would write the place off and never go back again. Yet they can't do the same thing with video games.

I can't wrap my head around it.

"maybe they changed tho? the food can't be that bad when they're still in business, some of my colleagues went there and the food was fine. maybe it was an exception? besides, it's cheap and all my mates want to go here, so who am I to be spoil the fun..?!"

people are retarded, including me and you, down to rocket scientists. so even if we're aware of it, we still do it to some extend.
take video games for example, they are just another media and mainstream now, which has been part of the cultural glue for millennia - what else is there to talk about, what else is constantly changing with shit happening worth talking about? so if you don't play the latest AAA game, watched the latest blockbuster movie, don't keep up with any sports or listened to the latest mumble rap album, what else is there to talk about really? most people don't want to be the contrarian lone loser, so they keep up with the shit even if they might not personally enjoy it just to be part of the group, if they even are aware of it (doesn't help that most of them that do are spergs, if that's cause or effect is a whole other debate). fuck most people do it on social media (it's even in the name), where companies turned gossip and general communication into an advertisement platform.

heck talking about how shit something is means we are part of it - some of us hopefully were smarter not to pay any money for it, but then what are 60 bucks? nothing to most people, so they can blow it on literal shit, keeping those companies in business, and the cycle goes on...

maybe the real cyberpunk was the realizations we made along the way.

EDIT: sorry for the doublepost, assumed someone else would've replied by now <_<

Management at CD Projekt needs to be completely replaced, because it seems to be completely inept.

they just sold a 6/10 game to 8 million+ suckers based on brand name and hype alone, I'd call that the opposite of inept.
by the time their next game rolls around those same 8 million+ tards are gonna cream themselves over it just the same and gonna pre-order the deluxe version. I mean what works for EA and any other big name publisher out there must work for some slavs too.

FF14 is sub based mmo sold as a service with additional purchases on top. good luck telling your shareholders you're wasting time and money on a single player game almost everyone already paid you for.

that''s a level of cope that even surpasses last week's "day 1 patch is gonna fix everything, this is CDPR! they know what they're doing, they're the good guys!!1"

Management is probably the ones that pushed to keep the game on XB1/PS4. I guarantee you the devs were trying to tell them they were having problems making it work.

No one will be fired for the decision to press forward because the people who decided to press forward and the people who do the firing are the same.

maybe they should've pushed for better wages and hours to get more competent devs to release a game on last gen consoles without any of those pesky issues like hardware limitations. you know, like the other big boys do by outsourcing to asia and eastern europe..... can't even type that with a straight face. imagine being such a shit studio not even the usual yuropoor wageslaves want to work for you. maybe takes one to know one.

man it's gonna be a ride once post-purchase rationalizations and buyer's remorse sets in over the holidays when lot of people are cucked by more lockdowns.

I just realized even story DLC might be a problem. Unless it's set before the main story or very early in it they'll have to get Reeves back in to record lines which will be very costly. If he's even available that is.

There's backlash but don't expect that backlash to last for more than about a couple months. I guarantee you in a year's time or hell even half a year, everyone's going right back to sucking this company off.
