"AdNauseam
Absolutely fucking magical, somehow even blocks ads on Twitch.tv"

Is it something on my end, or has Twitch outsmarted the adblockers? Because I'm still getting interminable ads there.
As mentioned you can use TTV-adblock and then there is also my favored option which is Alternate Player for Twitch which also blocks Twitch ads, but provides a nicer interface for Twitch streams and chat in addition which in my opinion is better than the official UI. Occasionally Twitch will change their ads in a way that breaks AP's adblock though, but they typically update and fix it within a few days, same with TTV-adblock.

Anyone know of a good browser comparison list/site that isn't neocities?
Besides that, what type of adblock is recommended for Android?

Adblocking for your whole phone, or just within browsers?
The whole phone.
Sidenote, is it futile to stem the tide of data going to Microsoft when running Win10? I'd switch, but no longer have the patience or time, and keeping track of both a Linux distro & Win7/10 at the office is too inconvenient.

If you've got a rooted phone, AdAway has always worked well for me. If you're not rooted, I'll let someone else cover those options.

You can try the extensions version of ungoogled-chromium and install ublock origin. I'm not sure how well it works in that configuration though. I do use the extensions version and overall it's a great alternative to Chrome or Brave on Android

Pretty much. If you want a Linux desktop you don't have to fuck with at all, give Linux Mint a try. You won't run into things breaking on updates, etc. It's a great alternative to windows for those who want things to "just work".

This entire thread has been immensely helpful so far & while I've been able to narrow things down quite a bit, I'm still split between Silverfox or Brave. Fairly certain Mullvad VPN will do the trick.

+1 for Mullvad. I jumped ship from PIA about a year ago when they got bought out by shady fucks, and I've been very happy with Mullvad's borderline autistic approach to privacy.

I hope they're doing good work, Sweden is both heavily surveilled and ruled by autistic laws. One internet provider, Bahnhof, celebrated GDPR because that meant that they can't keep logs without asking the user/customer for consent and they wouldn't do that. When a ruling came down that they had to because the rules applies differently sometimes... then they offered their own free VPN service because a VPN isn't an ISP so... separate but not equal even if the machines are next to each other.

It connects to plex and allows you to create pseudo tv channels. Lots of things you can customize and the documentation is pretty good. One of the things i have been missing with streaming is the tv channel 'experience.' There is something super nostalgic about just stumbling on a movie or tv show 15 minutes in on a sunday afternoon.

wouldn't picking something at random to the trick?

I suppose, but this is automated. I have a channel setup that just loops through star trek and since i've seen all the episodes like 10 times i'd much rather just be able to tune into a stream. This is way less work than selecting all the trek series and random play an episode. Another channel is a B5 one setup to play in proper order with the movies and crusade. I want to make sure i follow the play order but don't really care where i start from.

This also allows for ffmpeg transcoding which helps with my older devices. Have an older tablet that is the perfect size and great battery life but struggles to play x265. Plex can transcode in theory but in practice it has never worked correctly for me.

It looks like Livestreaming is imminent for Odysee. They've beaten Bitchute to the punch again, I wonder if they're going to be the Betamaxx to Bitchute's VHS, a superior format that gets left in the dust because not enough people adopted it.

I'm trying my hand at setting up Ungoogled Chromium and I keep seeing people recommend using Chromium Web Store, combined with a general inability to find CRX files.
My kneejerk reaction is that getting my extensions from the chrome webstore seems to defeat the purpose of taking those additional privacy steps.
Is there something I am missing, or do I just need to bite the bullet and finally work out how to get stuff off github that hasn't included a helpful 'download button here you boomer retard' button.

So if I wanted to roll something that did what discord did.
But is not discord.
what use?
Ripcord is pretty good. You have to be able to go into Discord's settings and get your actual account information, which is mildly difficult but there are instructions on the site. Then you can connect to Discord servers without having to run an instance of the official bloated piece of shit client.

Ripcord is pretty good.
Too bad the developer is an idiot. He refuses to add feature parity to the Discord side of things. He refuses to add a toggle to display nicknames only and he refuses to add a search function. He's focusing most of his time to the Slack functionality as that's where he's trying to make money off the software being shareware.

He claims that Discord users can't be converted to customers, despite nitro being big. He could easily add faux-"Nitro" features that BetterDiscord plugins add, such as the ability to use emotes from other servers by just posting them as an image.

But why give him money in the first place for a client that doesn't even match the simplest of Discords features?

They're constantly going to break them, even if they don't find some excuse to sue him. He could have to abandon the Discord end of it at any time. I prefer it rudimentary anyway because I absolutely hate Discord.

That would not seem to solve the problem I'm having which is I don't want discord to be able to Snoop on a server and ban people for saying nigger if you're still connecting to them.

Really sucky because I have tried several discord alternatives and none of them have really matched up in terms of features even if the client itself is dog shit there isn't a better solution yet.
