This is just a personal curmudgeonly rant, but back in MY day (the mystical far off era known as the mid-late 2000's), there were two types of "trans" in the public consciousness. Transvestite, and Transsexual. Either you were a dude or chick who liked crossdressing, or you went the full 9 yards and had your entire biological sex changed (at least at the genital level) through surgery. "Gender" was just another word for your biological sex, and the idea of gender identity and being transgender was not at all something people talked about, so if you had a penis and went up to someone saying you're a woman while wearing a dress, they'd just brush you off as a lying transvestite. In some ways transgenderism is like the missing link between being a transvestite and being a transsexual, and it's based on a lot of annoying semantical shit which has led to countless retarded arguments. (For example, the entire reason that whole stupid "trans bathroom" debate happened was because people were confusing "gender" separated bathrooms as being the current year definition of gender, even though they were originally separated by your biological sex.)

Well when you build an entire theory around a failed experiment, but claim it wasn't a failed experiment, the entire system becomes perverted by this bad methodology. Gender theory, as it is right now, should be discarded and started from scratch based on that alone.

I think it has to be this. They've muddied the water around it so that they can flex the definition to be anything people want it to be so that nobody's toes get stepped on.

Frankly as much as they decry the concept of gender roles, creating a thousand itty-bitty rulesets for what qualifies as what has made them even stricter. When it was a binary option I never once heard someone say "oh you're a girl then" when you went against the grain. But as soon as you tell people what you're into nowadays people are crawling out of the woodwork to prescribe you a label of their choosing that fits juuuust right.

The rule of thumb for talking about yourself should always just be "does anyone need to know this?" and for 99% of auxiliary genders and sexualities the answer is no, the nuance between your labels does not make a difference besides letting people know how much attention you're currently looking to get.

Prepare for disappointment. Drilling a hole into a man's taint and lining it with a fileted penis doesn't create a vagina. And sewing a roll of arm-skin onto a woman's pelvis does not a penis make. It was as impossible to change your biological sex on the genital level in the mid-to-late 2000s as it is now.

I don't want to powerlevel too much, but this is relevant. Even a relatively small hormonal imbalance can properly fuck you up. I had an endochrine problem for a bit that took a long time to diagnose and treat, and before I went on meds for it I was really, really, seriously ill, almost completely disabled some days. Hormones govern pretty much every major organ and chemical system your body has, and even having a slight imbalance can cause your entire body to malfunction. I felt like I was fucking dying, and if I didn't get treatment, I might have. And the hormone concerned wasn't even one of the more impactful ones - such as estrogen.

I can only imagine the effects of pumping huge amounts of estrogen into a male body that doesn't have a deficiency (male bodies do naturally produce small amounts, just as female bodies produce small amounts of testosterone, but for different purposes). Estrogen affects EVERYTHING in the body, just about. Go to the wikipedia page and read just how many interactions it has with both different organs/systems and also with other hormones. Everything from protein synthesis to lung function. Artificially adding it to the body would affect literally every system in the body, and not positively. The hormonal systems in the body work on balance, and the entire endocrine system has, as its core function, to keep those hormones balanced, as even a slight error can be disastrous for the body. The entire body. And some idiot wants to pump himself full of it because of politics and Twitter clout.

I'm surprised the suicide rate is as low as it is quite frankly, though that excludes other deaths by organ failure due to severe hormone imbalances.

I'm going to take a wild guess that this edit was made by a man in a dress.

Apparently in 2018 Wikipedia decided to differentiate "Estrogen (hormone)" and "Estrogen (medication)," and there are a number of contraindications and side effects listed on the "(medication)" page, but I guess they never updated the "Hyperestrogenemia" link to the now-missing "health risks and warning labels" section of the "(hormone)" article. There is a separate article on "Hyperestrogenism," though oddly neither the "(hormone)" nor "(medication)" articles contain the terms "hyperestrogenism" or "hyperestrogenemia," when logically even in the context of a natural hormone, it would be prudent to include information on naturally-occurring excessive estrogen production.
