On Christmas day, Christians celebrate God's only child being born in a manger in the small town of Bethlehem. He came to redeem humanity from sin, but it is important to remember that he was born of human parents and lived as a human before His sacrifice set us free from sin and death. Today is a day to both rejoice, and to love one another. Even if your Christmas is secular, it's a time cherish your loved ones, and show your appreciation for one another's presence in each other's lives by exchanging tokens of your love in the form of presents. They don't even have to be valuable presents. Sometimes just a phone call or a hug or a card or some cookies is enough.

My kids all love to read so I always made sure to give them that first at their guardians, then their real gifts when they visited me. Sometimes I would visit used book stores for some harder to find/ out of print books they wanted or bought them brand new. It's surprising how easy it is to shop for kids when you get them into things at an early age. Like art supplies can be found anywhere and it's not hard to turn the Walmart acrylic paint into decent pigments. Just time and effort. Only thing i'd bother going to a dollar store for though is poster boards. Least I wouldn't have to worry about lead being mixed in with something.
