Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

It's RNA though, it can't somehow become DNA without a freak reverse transcription event, where it would then proceed to be destroyed by the immune system, or otherwise cleaned up. Hijacked cells don't stick around for long.
Yea but it supposedly alters the genome so you could never catch another coronavirus. If those cells don't exist for long how can they promise this change is permanent?
I personally don't even really believe elites are taking the vaccine, it's just an interesting idea to ponder on because for example pregnant women aren't suppose to get the vaccine.

No, it hijacks cells and causes them to produce spikes genetically modified to be more structurally sound than the ones on the actual virus, so they can be noticed by the immune system independently, where they are then examined to produce a new defense system against the virus. Your actual genome is not changed at all.

Sounds like a lot of work when 99% of us could just suffer the sniffles for a week.

Most of the work was already done, and competent genetic engineer experienced with creating coronavirus vaccines could conceivably do it in a day. In reality, it took only a few days. Even if it had happened to be hard, they had practically infinite money to get others to help if they felt lazy.

I know comparisons to Nazism are as trite as can be these days, but this literally looks like some overused Nazi trope of pro-Coof-Lockdown party members being a part of the school (see films: The Wave, Swing Kids, Die Welle, etc), replete with double speak and similar verbiage

tl;dw - if the mRNA vaccine alters the human genome and all of the elites are getting it, it's possible the next virus will actually kill unvaccinated people
so either get vaxxed and become infertile, or literally die

This doesn't sound that bad, actually. I mean, for me, being one of the Excess People, its probably not good, but most of humanity is garbage and could be washed away with nothing of value lost. Its just that they seem intent on replacing the superior humans with garbage people from shitholes. Why go to all the trouble to flood western nations with shitholers just to then kill them off? Maybe they need to keep some strong-backed dims around to shoggoth for them?

I think that the average first worlder is just fucking bored. There are so many people who live such mundane lives that they "want" (or at least think they do) this to actually be the Bubonic Plague. To me I think there's a ton of overlap with people who claim to really want a civil war or the people who blabber on about how dangerous white males are or how Trump is the devil, etc. Hell, I bet it overlaps a lot with the people who are/were really into all of the zombie themed stuff in media for the last decade or so (which seems to have petered out a lot as political autism has become a new source of entertainment/fear porn) and politically I think it's pretty clear which side engages in this more, at least from my perspective.

Some really are true believers that think that walking outside is like being dropped into Chernobyl in the spring of '86, but for most I think they just crave excitement and some kind of struggle but they know that the things they're going on about really aren't that big of an issue in the real world. Of course if they ever got those things for real they'd be shitting their pants in fear and the larp wouldn't be nearly as fun to post on Twitter and Tik Tok about.

To expound on this, what it does is make your cells produce the spike glycoprotein in COVID-19 that has been found to not vary much between strains (there were some amino acid deletions in the UK and SA variants, but it shouldn't affect a polyclonal response.)

The immune system can produce antibodies against anything, theoretically, but in this case it's producing antibodies against multiple amino acid branches in the spike glycoprotein, which will be effective at destroying the actual SARS-CoV-2 virus as well.

e.g., the Oxford vaccine has a lower effectiveness rate because they seemingly underestimated how good the human body is at producing antibodies against the chimp adenovirus they bound the SARS-CoV-2 spike glycoprotein to. You can end up in a situation where you clear out the chimp adenovirus part instantly and immunize yourself against...further vaccination attempts with the same vaccine. Since you're destroying the carrier before you can develop antibodies against the spike glycoprotein.

mRNA is awesome because it avoid that entire thing and your cells stop producing the spike glycoprotein eventually due to natural cell turnover.

Meanwhile, Los Angeles County is the new epicenter of the pandemic in the US. 35k+ new cases a day. I'm an essential worker and we have been so insanely busy. Nobody is taking the stay at home order seriously because the California government seems to come up with their COVID policies by shaking a magic 8 ball. Californians are over the incompetence and it's only fueling the spread.
First, :semperfi: for your work in what's probably a shitty setting right now, @Local Coyote. Given California's population, LA county's numbers aren't too surprising even if the per capita rate is significantly larger than other major cities.

You bring up a point I've touched on before. Governmental incompetence at the various levels (Federal, State, and Local), has probably done as much to fuel the spread as the lack of either basic hygiene or social distancing has. For months, we've seen different levels of government issue contradictory directives and adopt restrictions that make no sense or seemingly have nothing to do with COVID (such as Michigan banning people from buying spray paint earlier this Spring).

I think what we're seeing is the culmination of nine-plus months of built-up frustration over the both indefinite goalpost moving and the lack of a collaborative effort between the various layers of government when it comes to addressing COVID. People have started not giving a damn even if it means they put themselves more at risk for COVID in the process simply because they're sick and tired of the bullshit and they've stopped caring.

Just from some general browsing they really are balls deep in the newspeak and other 2020 bullshit.
It really is clown world 🤡. In my state, the minority lieutenant governor has consistently stated that the disproportionate frequency of COVID in the POC community is the result of "institutional racism" that needs to be addressed and eliminated. Meanwhile, Ithaca college is exempting anyone who identifies as a minority from COVID vaccine requirements for reasons that boil down to lowered expectations for minorities. So much for working together to address inequalities whether real or perceived.

I think it's going to be a bloodbath for rental prices first.
Landlords whose tenants can't or wont pay rent while eviction moratoriums are in place are really behind the 8 ball because they still have expenses to pay such as upkeep, taxes, insurance even if they're receiving zero rent money. I can easily see them raising rents for the next paying tenants in their property to make up for what they're currently not receiving to cover those expenses. The longer eviction moratoriums last, the more likely rents will increase in the short term once they're finally lifted.

On today's news, I heard something about a COVID passport. I'm not sure if this is a new idea or something that's been kicked around for awhile, but I don't trust the idea to be properly administered and balanced with privacy concerns.

The same people who will throw a tantrum over "muh enviroment" and you daring to eat a stake instead of bug will gladly throw their masks into the sidewalk or the ocean because they cant be bothered.

I know society's greatest virtue is hypocrisy but we arent even being subtle about it

The one thing I still struggle to understand is why the huge push for vaccines when the evidence clearly shows it is no deadlier than the flu. I understand it’s more easily transmitted, but we never had this hysteria for far deadlier epidemics. It just baffles me the whole fkn world is putting all their eggs in the vaccine basket which is why I guess they are pushing it so hard.
Fk maybe I answered my own question.

So imagine if you can charge let's say $10 for a dose and maybe you know, people need 2 doses each to get (((vaccinated))). Now lets say you need to get (((vaccinated))) maybe twice a year because this dogshit virus doesn't elicit enough of an immune response to create permanent immunity.

So that's $40 per person per year. Now lets say you have 7 billion people and you somehow manage to, you know, make it mandatory. It's the ultimate (((subscription))) model.

Do the rich dudes actually have the 'science' to pull this off- or is this some just their usual LARPfest? They had that much money over their lifetime, and they still haven't pulled it off; 2010 would of been a good year to do so since the majority weren't complaining about the government that much.

You know when I go out and about in the American midwest, there's one demographic I rarely see wearing a mask. It's males between late teens to early 40s of this one group. I don't want to say who it is, but if you look at the numbers, it matches what I've noticed.

As for the vaccine, there's a limited supply and all the Important People are being seen getting it.
Has... has no one taken even the most basic economics class? I swear sometimes I think a lot of Americans were homeschooled by wolves.

(I may get the vaccine myself when it becomes available, if it hasn't killed half the planet by that time. What the hell I say. I've survived 2020 so far, what's one more thing?)
