Diseased #Comicsgate - The Culture Wars Hit The Funny Books!

"On Ethan van Sciver's channel, he's been privating or deleting livestreams as fast as he can. In a recent one he had to deal with further fallout as Richard proclaimed Mags' latest outing one of "the best comics of 2020." :\

In a year with Grant Morrison's GL, Geoff Johns and Jay Fabok Three Jokers, and a number of quality indie books, I don't know how you make that claim...."

They aren't deleted or privated. They're unlisted. You can still access them with the links I post on Twitter, and for my channel members, I post those links again in the community tab.

The reason I do this is because I started working towards growing my stagnant channel again in November. Posting short videos, at least 1 per day, and doing fewer livestreams, tells YouTube to recommend my videos more, and that's how you get subscribers.

You can still do livestreams, but it slows growth. The best thing to do is to Unlist them, which hides them from the your timeline, but still leaves them accessible to fans. For some reason, YouTube will then reward you with more recommendations.

There's no "fall out" from Zack saying he liked Mags' comic. I comically groan and bitch about it, and then we move on.

Did you forget how to quote?

My bad then.

Other channels have archives, but I've pointed out that divides your views between accounts.

That's more telling than anything. I wonder what Richard has to do to get people to wake up and smell the flowers. But eh. If I didn't know better I'd say he's doing it on purpose.

You should figure out the 2nd channel thing for the livestreams. It would be the best of both worlds having another channel with a 5-figure subcount. What's the downside?

The views. People watching videos there aren't watching videos on your main channel. Then there's the monetization process. Ethan needs that dollar. It's work and he probably sees it as risky. Right now, CAP is the cornerstone of his livelihood, so he's risk averse where it's involved.

I bothered to have a looksey about @TheCosmicWarrior 's lawsuit, no wonder he didn't want to share it...

Of the 5 causes he filed:
(1) Violation of California Civ. Code §51 (Unruh Act, claiming discrimination based on “political affiliation and political beliefs”);
(2) Violation of Civ. Code §51.5 (also a law against various forms of discrimination);
(3) Violation of Civ. Code §51.7, the Bane Civil Rights Act, a law which protects against “violence, or intimidation by threat of violence” because of a political affiliation (or other arbitrary discrimination);
(4) Violation of Civ. Code §52.1 (the Ralph Civil Rights Act); and
(5) Defamation.

All but the defamation cause have been dismissed, it's also past SLAPP.

Of the 19 defendants 18 have been dissmissed from the case leaving only Worldcon 76's parent company SFSFC Inc.

Going to court 14th of June.

Some of the filings are up on Scribd, 4 are not available to download. I personally have no interest in reading legalese but I shall upload for anyone who wants to.

One is too big to upload so I have a file dropper link

He unlists them due to the algorithm. Having multiple livestreams up does hurt the growth of the channel. When he streams just send the link here and if it's unlisted you can still click the link to see the video.

Well Frog, looks like we're going to end 2020 with Smug Doug overtaking your subs.

The situation has moved faster than I expected - he's at 136K now, he was 120K last night. You're at 138K.

He may have already overtaken you in the time it took me to type this.

I want you to know that even after Worm overtakes you any minute now, the Frog channel is still better than the Worm channel imo.

Ohhhh, let's just forget about 2020!

It's a new year coming!
Everything will turn out fine!

I continue to blame Trump retweeting Bean. That's the tear in reality man.

Apparently Doug TenNapel doesn't like the farms.....

Hah, well, he would know fay given his deep bond with Preston. :smug:

Maybe. I like to think of it as a teachable moment on why you shouldn't believe in humanity. :lol:

the original arguement was the firings and that the pandemic was the reason for it. DC had months to clean up their act while the pandemic was going on and produce a good storyline That would make money. Instead, we got Tom King’s run on Batman, some crappy YA novels with bad art, a canceled Aquaman book, a convoluted Batman who laughs storyline and I am not Starfire.

But yeah, I’m supposed to believe that the pandemic was responsible for three rounds of firings at DC instead of shit writing That doesn’t sell books.
The reason DC has been on a firing spree is sorely because of AT&T being burdened with 163 billion dollars of debt * by comparison Marvel's owner Disney's debt is at $64.42 billion * and looking to cut costs and if DC closes it's publishing division it'll be because Jim Lee failed to pull a Jeanette Kahn and convince the higher ups of the comics' viability as an ip farm for the shit that does make money.

As explained to you before DC as a brand is profitable and has just recently massively increased it's film and tv slate. It's just the floppies that are in trouble.

If it's sorely due to "Get Woke Go Broke" explain why Marvel's not in the same trouble when their books are even more "woke" than DC's.

because Marvel is owned by Disney and Disney is doing extremely well right now due to their streaming success. Nobody is really buying their newer comics either. Disney can afford to keep the comics around. Their situation is not the same as AT&T. Let Disney hit another rough patch again and see if people don’t start losing their jobs in a similar fashion to DC.

Also, I think AT&T might be steering away from cape cuck shit and veering into anime seeing as how Warner Brothers is producing a new anime called Record of Ragnorok. If that is a hit, than you can expect Disney to follow suit.

So you acknowledge that DC's troubles have nothing to do with this retarded culture war? And the only reason AT&T has so much debt is they bought Warner Bros and DirecTV back to back for 134 billion dollars and DirecTV alone failed to return it's investments as streaming has continued to rape cable tv in the ass. There's a reason AT&T has called it's investment in HBO Max a bet the company move if it flops like DirecTV has AT&T is in deep shit. * Disney meanwhile paid just 8 billion for both Marvel and Star Wars and more than made their money back and the only reason they paid so much for Fox was to keep Comcast from getting it *

As an aside I'm wondering if some disgruntled ex employee put a curse on Warners, this is twice they've been bought out by a telephone company that seems to have shit for brains when it comes to business sense.

:story: Riiiiiight DC Films massively expanding it's slate and the MCU's continued success means ATT and Disney will drop superheroes for something super niche like anime just ignore how post buyout Warner couldn't drop CrunchyRoll fast enough to Sony.

Even if DC and Marvel stop publishing comics superheroes aren't going anywhere.

I see Trumpers aren't the only ones coping.

It's doing great. Past SLAPP is a big win on our front which of course you're downplaying. There is cause for defamation, the judge ruled, which is very important.

We're going to go to appeals on the UnRuh act because this is clearly in violation according to case precedent t and that's really is important for the overall cause: it being safe for conservatives to be who they are in the public square without getting harassed/threatened/expelled. We believe the judge didn't even look at the evidence on this. This has to be done after the case is over though so it's just a long, arduous process.

We named everyone associated with worldcon, but the Inc. is the real defendant, so just normal court proceedings there. Under California law the people involved in defamation are personally liable so it's moot what the case says on defendant.

It's going very well. I expect them to lose their defamation case because what they did was truly awful and got me blacklisted from the industry when no one knew who I was before this incident.

You should sue Ethan and Cecil and the rest for painting you as a white nationalist or whatever for two years while you're at it.

That victim card isn't going to play itself JDA.

I never said anything about their movie division. I was talking strictly about their comics. The people that got fired from DC were from the comics side. The movies will stay alive because there are plenty of good stories from the past to choose from that will make good blockbuster hits. I can’t really think of any present day storylines in the comics that would make a good movie for DC.

Are you sure that I’m the one coping? Because shit like this won’t sell comics for DC And that’s why the culture war has everything to do with why they are failing.
