Accepting that living as a free people means that you may one day eventually die and that living responsibly largely negates the risk of dying young? You know like how all of humanity and human civilization functioned literally up until summer 2019?

Depending how they tweak the test the results could be reasonably accurate to wholly useless. The commonly employed PCR test wasn't employed because of its accuracy, but because of how easily it can be juked to provide the desired results.
That was one thing Trump had absolutely right: that the only reason cases are surging is because of the [intentionally bad] testing, and when you stop [the mostly useless] testing it goes away.
Unless they are taken to task for that and forced to stop using it, they can basically create a world-crippling pandemic out of nothing, and then enact emergency measures that give them unlimited power. Unless that is stopped we are going to be living with this COVID bullshit for another decade. They've already eliminated any semblance of election integrity with COVID, the middle class is being cancelled, what else is on the chopping block next? (Shit is fucked!)

I dunno how many people think the vaccine is "ineffective" per se, but I can only speak for myself.
There's a difference between "this isn't a disease that necessitates vaccination on a mass scale" or "the vaccine hasn't had enough testing to know what it's going to do to you" and "the vaccine doesn't work".
Personally, I don't really care how effective it is if a) it fries my nuts and b) hasn't had any meaningful long term testing done on it because it's literally impossible given the timeframe.
It can cure the disease 110% out of the gate, I still am not getting it.
Maybe in 5 or 10 years when we have a better sense of how things actually impact our systems and we have multiple long term studies to look at. But by then it probably won't matter.

Hey buddy, the governments are all locking down which shows this disease is super serious! Sure, those individuals who are ordering the lockdown don't follow their own rules and recommendations, but they told all us plebs to do so, so therefore they can be trusted!It is possible for the virus to be real and capable of causing harm, which is fairly clear that it can, and also for the response to be wildly out of proportion to the harm it is capable of causing. The only consistent theme we get is that people at risk to die from communicable diseases already are likely to die from this one. What a shocker.
None of this justifies disastrous global shutdowns. Guidance on how to protect yourself, sure. It's the same damn guidance they give during flu season every fucking year with the addition of the mask.
Really though what first tipped me off earliest was that none of the politicians treated the supposedly life and death pandemic like a life and death pandemic the instant they would be forced to say things that might lose them votes, or when they themselves were personally inconvenienced.
They're just some idiot no more intellectually capable than you or I, the only difference is they have a team feeding them supposedly the latest and best information.
If their wholly average intellect informed by all that info doesn't think they need to follow their own rules or tell their political support base something they don't want to hear to further the cause of fighting a life or death pandemic...maybe it isn't actually a life or death pandemic? Just maybe.
Its less a matter of the vaccines being ineffective, and more a matter of not trusting them because they are novel. I'm sure the mRNA method works, I don't trust what side effects might turn up. I'll gladly take a live/live-attenuated virus vaccine or cleaved spike protein vaccine for the same reason I'd take an AK-47 over the first working laser rifle.
The lethality of this virus also doesn't warrant a max vaccination regime, as it would make more logistical sense to focus on a treatment to cure the 5-10% that end up hospitalized than expecting 90% of the population to take it.
Furthermore, the lethality of this virus doesn't warrant the most obtrusive mitigation strategy in history. Fucking smallpox and typhoid make this virus look like a joke, yet even at the height of those real killer diseases quarantine strategy focused on the sick and not the healthy; and didn't have near the economic after-effects as these lockdowns have.
