Nah, I've read the paper. It was very obvious that the author was intentionally manipulating the numbers to make Dream look good. For example, he intentionally excluded the "luckiest" stream from his calculations and then averaged the results across the 6 streams that were under investigation AND the 5 streams where Dream didn't cheat. He also did some extremely suspicious things like take Dream at his word when Dream said that there were 37 RNG-based aspects of a speedrun where a speedrunner might want to cheat, despite him supposingly trying to be objective and not just a paid mouthpiece. However, 21 of those were seed-based, and this was a random seed run. There wasn't really a way for Dream to have cheated using seeds unless he had a list of thousands of extremely favourable seeds that were never discovered by speedrunners and he modified Minecraft to use one of those seeds every time he booted into a "random" seed world. The biggest one was how, after all this shitty math, the "expert" decided that his result of 1 in 10 million was still not enough to conclude that Dream cheated. No reasonable person would look at 1 in 10 million and say "it might be a coincidence." In physics, a new particle is considered to be discovered if there's a less than 1 in 3.5 million chance that an experiment could have happened without the particle existing. Remember, the only thing we know about this guy is that he works at a shitty draft review company despite allegedly having a PhD from fucking Harvard. Nobody with a PhD from Harvard is going to waste their time working at a shady company that's only existed for a few months to write drafts and apparently papers on Minecraft. All in all, complete bullshit.

He may not expect to lose anything. There are plenty of trash youtubers who have gone through controversies and come out better financially on the other end. Like @Mr Sister insinuated, it's possible Dream sees this as beneficial overall and he may not be wrong.
But it is true that rabid fans like his will throw him right the fuck under the bus when he does something perceived as "wrong" by them and they just move elsewhere. Even then he probably wouldn't be "canceled" but his viewership would decline drastically. Youtube will probably be profitable for him for a very long time, but who knows where his peak is?

For reference, CaptainSparklez made a fuckton of money off of Minecraft in the early 2010s but is basically a nothing channel last I knew. He made headlines for buying one of the most expensive mansions in LA or some shit at one point. Now with that in mind... imagine how rich Pewdiepie is off of Youtube + his products + sponsorship.

I got this feeling from his response video. In reality it is very underwhelming, and the evidence still points to him having cheated. But they way he presents it really bothered me. He complains over and over how the mods were biased against him, but instead of trying to step back and present everything objectively, he goes and presents it in his own even more biased way. 1.16 is different to other versions because of the Nether mechanics. In 1.14, Ender Pearls are obtained through killing Endermen (tall black mobs that steal stuff, based) and finding them in chests.

1.16, in the Nether, the player can trade with Piglins by tossing gold on the floor near these long nosed creaturs, there's a 4.73% chance they will give pearls. This makes the version faster but way less enjoyable, as a run is now determined by stupid fucking RNG. It's not a reflection of one's skills, getting pearls or not determines a run. Dream is a dumb faggot because he not only cheated, he submitted the run, and fucked himself by trying to discredit the moderators' autism. All this dumb nigger had to do was say something like "whoops I forgot to remove some of the mods I had for a previous video, please remove those runs my bad I'm dumb and 1.16 is worse than Hitler".
