OOooooh so THIS is who Dream is? I remember a while back, I think on twatter or IG I was looking through tags for dream based art (I was drunk and wanted to look at trippy shit for some reason) and I kept getting results for some contest and a bunch of shitty, creepy, Tumblr-styled art of this faggot. Didn't even know Minecraft youtubers were still a thing in 2020, thought that shit died out back in the mid 10's.
I thought they died off too until this controversy and now I learn that they're basically bigger and more commercial than ever. I think Minecraft is great but its community has gained some insanity with crazy new blood retards, apparently.

Did anyone ever actually come up with something more concrete than 'he got really lucky' as proof of his supposed cheating?

Like, this guy got world record holder in other categories, in runs that were at least seen as legit, and he held the lead for two months in the middle of 2020. Despite that, the supposed cheated run didn't even podium. Why would you cheat and not even place, if you knew you could win the record legitimately? Or alternately, if he's going to cheat a run like that, is it possible or even likely he cheated his earlier world records for it? Why haven't we found that yet?

The luck he got was ungodly unlikely... but it's not impossible.

I'm not saying that it's impossible he cheated, I just don't see that as being more likely than some equally desperate but less 'successful' (if you count torture porn being made of you as success) minecrafters jumping on a chance to take down a perceived frontrunner.

Normally, when people catch someone cheating, it's something incredibly autistic but concrete, like 'monkey heads were tilted slightly differently between stage transitions'.
I guess the shortest way to say it is, if he's willing to cheat, I'd expect him to cheat more - remove more than one rng factor from his speedrun attempts, or have signs of cheating in other runs he's done. Without evidence of either of those things (particularly if the very run where he manipulated RNG... was screwed over from WR pace by bad RNG...)
The accusation video goes over the why. It quotes Karl Jobst to explain why top runners would cheat.
"It may seem counterintuitive but you'd be surprised at how often some of the best players inevitably try to fake runs. You might think that having the talent to achieve a world record would make someone less susceptible to cheating, but it often works against them. Having talent tends to make people feel entitled. And when the game they play doesn't give them the luck they need, they become increasingly frustrated" remember in the video they say he stopped running for awhile because he was annoyed with the RNG changes? "On top of this, having talent and deep knowledge of a game makes you a better cheater." this dude knows the ins and outs of minecraft and the speedrun, he knows how to hide it. It's really laughable that he didn't get WR because of the RNG he couldn't change without getting caught

You fuckers made me make an account for this. I was fine browsing for 5+ years.

Edit: That's his brother. Fuck this I'm retarded and can't read.

Reedit: AND it's on an earlier page. I'm Done. Give me the Alogs and shit ratings. I deserve them.
Something tells me you haven't been lurking for five years and that you're just another stan. Dream will never acknowledge you.

Really it's not the cheating the speedrun that really annoyed people, it's more how he responded and then his multiple types of responses on multiple social medias, one he acts nice, the other he wants all people saying he is cheating to die, the other he's in between that. He is most definitely a manipulative ass that whines when he doesn't get his way. But stan culture always makes shit like this interesting, specially when Dream has been propagating and rewarding it for his stans.

Unrelated, but didn't know before that he has a merch Discord server or something. There are a few videos where people record the server while Dream is in a VC. Fangirls (Because I'm certain the audience featured here is 99% young girls) are so obsessed with their YT/streamer idols that they'll scrape for every bit of interaction and recording that they can get.

Just look at some of the comments on this video, too.

This dude absolutely knew what he was doing when he fed the stans. I don't think he has actual incriminating, one-on-one interactions with his fanbase but when you bait piranhas you inevitably get your just desserts.

>some of these retards even put their pronouns in their name
Jesus H. fucking christ why. Looking at this video physically hurts and I want to get off this wild ride. It in fact hurts so much, that I'm about to fucking pass out.

What bothers me is that in other speedrun communities, you are usually straight up banned in the community for cheating, meaning you don't get to partake in races, or any other categories if it's that severe. Sometimes you can even get a global ban so your runs NEVER get on the board, even if you try to go clean. I have no idea how or why they didn't do something other than a suspension, other than "Dream brought in people", which is a ridiculous statement in itself. Anyone could bring in new players, runners, etc.

Even then, there's been worse ways of how moderators of speed run leader boards have acted about faked runs such as this obvious TAS of Ghosts n' Goblins on NES that got verified, and resulted in the runner getting banned from posting new runs.

I 100% agree. He should have been banned from the get go. The fact Dream was able to get away with this on the grounds of "bringing in people", is absolute bullshit that shouldn't really be a justification. Upon getting caught, those Dream brought in either a.)Stepped away from him or most likely B.)Justified it at a moments notice and had their justification of cheating enabled by lack of action. Anyone could bring in people, but that makes me ask. Does anyone REALLY want teenage girls in a fad obsession who openly want to rape and gut their idol in their circle? Or is speedrunning really just that dead? (I don't keep up with it much anymore.)

That second line I guess touches on the crux of my argument.

You say 'one particular run'. Did he have a single run where he got that absurd luck, or did he have a consistent record of getting above=average luck?

If it's a single run that, as you put it, gave him suspiciously good rng for a while then screwed him over with a different rng, couldn't that just be a fluke of a run? Wouldn't he control for other rng factors, if he was willing to cheat for a run?

I guess the shortest way to say it is, if he's willing to cheat, I'd expect him to cheat more - remove more than one rng factor from his speedrun attempts, or have signs of cheating in other runs he's done. Then again, maybe I'm expecting too much consistency from someone who... shits themself and talks about it on twitter...
5 consecutive streams, totaling over 24 hours, of statistically impossible luck.

These communities are ran by autists who lack social awareness or experience and are terminally incapable of standing up for themselves. Forcing confrontation is something they want to avoid at absolutely all costs, so they'll let cheaters go with a slap on the wrist simply because they don't have the force of personality necessary to stand up to them and tell them they can't participate anymore.

And when Dream cheats again and steals a world record, what're they going to do when the rightful record holder starts bitching at them to remove the cheater? Is it a catch 22 of autism?

It's classic avoidance mentality. It happens everywhere on the internet. Everyone knows there is a problem, but bringing it up would be too damaging to group cohesion, so it's allowed to fester and fester until it explodes. It's no different than in an RL relationship where somebody has a drug habit or other vice that the partner knows about but can't control. It changes the relationship from 'we want to be happy together' to a much more poisonous 'I want to extract as many fond memories from this as possible before it dies' status. People are weird. I've seen friends go back to terrible, failed, broken partnerships over and over again because they can get one thing they want out of it that they can't readily find elsewhere. They suffer and are miserable, but so long as they get that one thing (which can be as petty as 'they play the MMO I like') then it's alright.

Look no further than the high score community and the Billy Mitchell situation. People knew or should have known that lies were being told at a minimum, if not outright cheating, but nothing was done about it until Twin Galaxies was sold, and now the new owners are suing Billy Mitchell because part of the contract on the sell was that the database was legitimate. Billy Mitchell, who owned controlling interest in TG, knew the database had bullshit in it including some of his own records. When you say it in a legal document it's fraud. He chose to break the law rather than harm his ego.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. All I can hope is that he has a gun and he isn't afraid to shoot.

I feel like this thread should have been a community watch thread for autistic Twitter stans if there isn't one already. These fans are fuckin volatile.

You know you're dealing with a group of retards when their "shared morals" have to do with minecraft.
