Trashfire Apollo Legend suicide

How does speedrunning attract so many unstable (not sure if that's the right term) individuals? Honestly feel like it could have its own sub forum alongside the FGC.
You don't have to go outside. Playing vidya is easier than real life. For that run time you don't think about anything. You keep your focus on that one thing.
You can add Dilution Done Quick promoting all those freaks.

Communities like this typically start out as a by-autists-for-autists affair, so you've got some degree of instability just from that. Then because it's so niche the community can't really afford to kick anybody out, and this gets passed off as intentional inclusivity and used as a selling point. So in addition to the autists you start getting the sort of people who specifically seek out inclusive communities, which is itself a red flag (why would you need to seek out an inclusive community if you weren't the type to get kicked out of less-inclusive ones?).

TL;DR it's all autists and trannies lol what do you expect

Billy Mitchell is scummier than you think. His silence on the matter leads me to believe his perspective hasn't changed with time, even though Apollo had an odd fondness towards him as a character. When I get on PC I'll cap Apollo's private feelings about Billy in contrast.

Mind you that was a 20-year old he was talking about at the time.
This contradicts Keem's statement...

I think a lot of people get into it because the barrier to entry for getting noticed is so low, the community for a game only has so many people and you can find one that you can place decently and get attention on, it'd be a lot easier than being good at a competitive game or making good streaming/video content because these can be hard to get in to without actually being good at games or having a decent personality. Speedrunners can also go on games done quick or whatever other streaming event to get more easy attention by just existing somewhere nobody mentally sound would want to be.

That's what I've always seen it as anyway.

Speedrunning attracts the highest form of autism.

Imagine devoting thousands of hours of your tiny sliver of life to making Mario go bing bing wahoo yipee .005 seconds faster and ending it because big bad evil tie man called out your pointless lolsuit while some other autistic youtuber made fun of you for a bit.

As he said in his video, the primary impetus was his deteriorating physical health.
The worst part its the fact he said he was beyond broken and getting help from whatever isn't a simple thing. that's where he crossed the boundary of being helpless but knowing that if he was more receptive to communicate with friends or family more often perhaps woulda saved his life by putting him in a mental hospital or a place where he could stop thinking of taking his own life

I don't believe Keemstar is the most trustworthy source of information.
He may not be wrong if it went like this:
  • Apollo's last video drops and people are rilled up.
  • Then confirmation drops and the first talks about Mitchell being responsible begin.
  • Mitchell sees it, realizes that he can't win this one while people are on the edges of their seats, so he pretends to care. Keemstar sees it and tweets about it.
  • Meanwhile, behind the scenes he acts like absolute douchebag, because he just can't help himself, but it comes out later.
OR Keemstar knows perfectly well how Mitchell feels, but doesn't want to poke him, since the guy is very sue-happy.

OR they are all assholes and only pretend to care.

I thinks some people might be missing that the Billy Mitchell screenshot is more than 2 years old.

There's a difference between shitposting, in the midst of a private feud, when you read rumours that some guy killed himself and trying to help/save the guy when you've heard he might be about to do the deed 2 years, and a resolved lawsuit, later.

For all I know Keem is full of shit/mistaken/lying/whatever when he said Billy was trying to help people get in contact with him, but he also might be quite right. Billy would at the very least have access to Apollos attorney's number (who in turn would have Apollo's IRL details).

We don't really have much in the way of details/claims other than just Keem's initial tweet AFAIK.

This thread has just solifidied my opinion that the speedrunning community is a blackhole of autism which nothing good ever comes from
Not true, between the cringe compilations on YT, the crazy trannies to laugh at, and the self-image boost I get from watching these scrawny people play the bing-bing-wahoo hours on end and then cooming their pants when they beat the WORLD RECORD on Mushroom Kingdom, Level 4, Stage 2 in Mario Kart 3 for the nintendo entertainment system by 0.5 seconds, I'd say the speedrunning community has had a very positive impact on my life.

Right? What the fuck?

"Speedrunner commits suicide; Keemstar most affected"

It's as hilarious as it is gross. Typical gnome.

"Why am I still getting hate?!"

He's got lots of problems and they are really terrible but he isn't going to bother going into it.

"I know a lot of people are going to feel bad"

Sounds like one of them is malignant narcissism.

Its stuff like this that is why I never took my life in some of my darkest personal moments when I felt like I could actually go through it.

I could never forgive myself for hurting the people that care for me that fucking badly so I decided to persevere and I'm better off for it years later now. Much happier.
