I notice at this place I'm staying that almost all the employees take off their stupid little masks when no one's looking. They spend their idle time on their phones, probably searching through whatever social media slop that's being fed to them, and plastered all over the wall behind them are the "we care about you!11" signs. Yeah right, don't insult my intelligence.

I talked to this guy, probably the manager as I was leaving, and was like "Why do you wear a mask?"
Manager: "W-well its a CDC guideline and meant to protect against the coronavirus"
Me: "Well the boat has sailed on the coronavirus, the entire country is filled with people who have compromised immune systems from all the junk food and lack of exercise they're getting. Putting on a mask as someone with a weak ass immune system doesn't help Covid-19 one bit"
Manager: Literally no response, goes on to fellate the CDC's reputation right in front of me

Florida has one of the highest median ages in the US as well, #5 or so I think, and is one of the most populous states. If they've been open and are not showing "bad" virus numbers (scary), then what the fuck. I've been considering writing the governor of my state and bitching at him for being a retard, because while the state's controls aren't very harsh, the never-ending alcohol curfew is gay as fuck. Somebody think of the poor bar and restaurant owners!

Also why the FUCK is Puerto Rico on the list of US state demographics? Get off my list freakin' ricans! For some reason PR also has the second highest median age if you consider it as a state (haha no), just under Maine. Did they really ship every single sprog and pregnant mamuela they had over here? That's a rhetorical question.

Charging for the vaccine could probably get you disenrolled from Medicare and Medicaid though. Not really worth it.

Let's be honest: It's either wear the mask or get fired nowadays. Fuck you if you work in a hot, humid environment; Karen's making a call if she sees you without it. They're actually watching the cameras at my store now because of that shit. And yes, they WILL call the store if they catch you, write you up, and tell the manager on duty to send you home. I'm not even sure who "they" are, just that they have more power than the fucking store manager.

Also, previously being a manager, I know all about making up some BS, official-sounding excuse that sounds close enough to what the higher-ups would say and will please them if a customer goes to call "corporate" (meaning generic customer service line; there is not nor is there ever a number for corporate, dumbasses).

Also some folks are reporting contracting the coof after getting the vaccine. This shouldn't be news as the vaccine is not effective on everyone and there is no possibility of complete immunity from a Coronavirus.

Agreed. I have to wear a mask at Wal-Mart and they're telling us to keep contacts at less than 20 people, but I haven't been locked down since like May. Restaurants and theatres open. Don't have to wear a mask sitting down in the theatre/restaurant/bar. No new cases in the province for the second straight day with just nine active cases. Had Christmas dinner with the family, had a couple friends over New Year's Eve. Life is pretty well normal besides the masks. Watching the Covid stuff on the news is like watching something that's happening on Mars.

I had a gander at my state's vaccination plan a couple days ago, and there isn't even a timetable for those who are young and healthy like me. It's healthcare workers first, then those in nursing homes, then other elderly, moving on to other at-risk groups as time goes on. Considering how low priority I apparently am, I'm not getting it anytime soon, which is just fine by me. If there are in fact complications that arise from getting the shot, they should be well-enough known by the time I could even get one to allow me to avoid it entirely. I'm no anti-vaxxer by any stretch of the imagination, but when you have a vaccine developed in such a short amount of time with a method that hasn't been tested for safety in a large population before, for a virus that we didn't even know about a year ago and gives you little more than a flu at most if you're young and healthy, forgive me if I'm a little skeptical of this one.
