Have to disagree. Maybe this is a difference between the UK and other places but teenagers and even children (rarely) are diagnosed bipolar. The first signs of it usually show in teenage years, similar to schizophrenia.
BPD is usually confused with bipolar however, and that is not diagnosed until after 18 due to confusion with normal teenage development and puberty leading to the issues with identity etc.
They may do so in the UK, but in the US diagnosing someone under 18 with Bipolar is not the way it's done.
