I've said this forever. There absolutely are very obvious biases on social media, and it's probably contributed to the decline of political discourse. But the people it's biased against are completely unsympathetic. It's really hard to feel bad when they get banned or deplatformed.

That is what happens when there is unchecked capitalism: a small number of companies control everything and become arbiters of what is okay and what is not. A capitalist would say that the solution is to create your own social media service which caters to conservatives. Your service gets thrown out of the Google and Apple app stores? Found your own app store which caters to conservatives. Web hosts refuse to host it? Found your own web host which caters to conservatives. Cloudflare refuses to provide DDoS protection? Found your own DDoS protection service which caters to conservatives. If there is demand in the market for these things, then they will be successful. Bingo. These tech companies like Facebook and Twitter should have been regulated ages ago, but not for the reasons the right-wing thinks. These companies have effectively become the town bulletin board and, as such, need to not run completely unchecked. It’s partially about freedom of speech, but it’s more about the fact that a person or platform CAN get effectively unpersoned by a small handful of companies that control the internet. And at this point we’ve backed ourselves into a corner by letting them run wild for so long.
