It's definitely not preferential treatment since there were plenty of arrests during that whole period. It's the fact that there's a world of difference between rioting and breaking some stores and deliberately targeting a branch of government. They should count themselves lucky they didn't end up black bagged.

Exactly. More so that it was in session during the whole fiasco. The fact that only one got tagged, and that was through her own massive stupidity of driving to jump a barrier with guns aimed on her, is a ruddy miracle. Not American, so I could be wrong here, but I don't think any the amendments allow for storming the government chambers. That's some third world, African shit if there ever was.

I honestly don’t think it’s a “left gets preferential treatment issue” like some MAGA people are making it out to be. I think it’s the simple fact that the BLM riots were aimless chaos that only fucked over the working class and hurt their cause while the riot in DC directly threatened the establishment.

I really think it would benefit most people to stop looking at it as a left vs right issue. Don’t fuck with the people in charge unless you want to get hurt.
This. I guarantee you if the BLM riots were actually focused on specific federal targets, and not just burning, and destroying random civilian shit, the hammer would've come down on them a lot sooner.

Sure, legally, and probably to a lesser degree than when whites do it. But the media would still be lionizing them as "racial justice activists" and they would still have some people with deep pockets funding their legal battles.

The left uses bombs, but very rarely.

The right, however? Bombs are basically their currency. Look up any right wing extremist movement and bombs were used at some point. As someone else alluded to ITT, people have forgotten that abortion clinics tended to explode during the 90's. And, as long as white supremacists are always classified as "right wing", their bombing campaigns are always highlighted in the media to show "what a threat the right wing is".

A couple of years ago, one of the local skin-head crews collapsed in on itself as they tend to do. Now, prior to this, their only act of violence was putting one black man in the hospital for a few days. But as soon as the started fighting each other? The police were intercepting bombs in the mail a couple of times a week for a few months, and they started depositing pipe bombs at each other's homes. The left demonstrates here all the time and they've NEVER been demonstrated to the public to use bombs.

My point is that the government isn't entirely wrong when they say that right-wing extremism poses a greater "threat" to the public. The difference is that the way the right is a threat to normies is that the general public is placed at risk by their tactics more frequently than the public is at risk due to lefties.

The left certainly has the capacity to use explosive devices when pushed to violence, but the right tends to use bombs more often, and explosives are always a greater threat to people than other means of aggression.

So, is the right the threat the government claims them to be? No, but they're certainly a greater threat to John Q. Public going about his life than the left is simply due to their proclivity for using bombs.

You forgot to credit Clinton w/ Somalia.
pretty sure that blm riots have been a greater threat and claimed more normie lives in 2020 than ominous white supremacist pipe bomb enjoyers have in years

The Justice Department has opened criminal investigations on more than 170 individuals and aim to charge people with assault and seditious conspiracy for the riot at the Capitol, acting U.S. Attorney Michael Sherwin said. They will crack down as hard as they possibly can on anyone who was in that building, they can't not.

Wow, he wasn't even charged with sedition or anything too bad. Really didn't take much for this guy to kill himself. Trespassing and breaking curfew is like teenager-tier charges.
Oh well.
Add one more body to the body toll,
May God rest this poor bastard's soul.

In all fairness, intent, message, target, and speed are kind of a factor here. I don't support the BLM riots but they usually started off as some kind of protest and then Antifa shows up and fucks it up for everyone.
There were tons of videos of protesters trying to stop Antifa and other opportunists from looting and shit, but you can't really convince opportunists to stop what they're doing with morality.

This is also probably being done to send a message to everyone in the US, basically saying "Hey, you fuck up shit on the streets, you don't fuck with governmental shit" so that way the next time this happens people won't attempt to attack the capitol or other government facilities. Because 5 deaths this time isn't shit, but it could have gone left real fast with very little change.
Hate em both, think this shit is stupid.

There's a connection here.

This guy's lawyers must be shitting themselves right now. Why is he talking about this on social media?
Isn't the point of Secret Service to be, I dunno... SECRET?

I mean, this kind of shit was happening everywhere. There was another of a black lady trying to stop people from looting a Target and everybody blew right past her.
There is a long history of the black community saying "You're gonna fuck it up for everybody" and shit like this is why it happens.
It's unfortunate, but it's what happens. How many BLM or Antifa assholes tend to be other races kicking shit up.
I don't agree with BLM and the way they want about their movement, as it has no clear goal or organization to be seen other than pointing out the obvious that happens with police and chanting.
I will say I do sympathize that their movement keep getting co-opted by the literal worst types of people and when they aren't getting co-opted they had to deal with the dumbest rebuttal of
"Blue lives matter" and "All lives matter" and "White lives matter" which is just ridiculous, it's quite literally a protest to their protest.

Whole thing is fucking dumb, if anything BLM, Antifa, and Maga have shown me these past 4 years that we Americans can organize ourselves into a mob really well, but we have no fucking clue what to do when we group up.
