Seems unlikely. If there was proof to be had the election was stolen, the Republicans would have found it by now. More likely Trump's been such a loose canon that's accomplished so little, that whipping a mob up into a frenzy aimed at them was the last straw and they just really don't want to have to deal with him again. Nor are they keen on seeing what he might do with the privileges he'd be entitled to as a former president who served out his term. A lot of Republicans would be similarly happy to see him gone, but aren't keen on the potential precedents that would be set in punishing Trump at this point. That's probably what McConnell is weighing at this point. Punish Trump, mostly get rid of him, but risk unpleasant long term precedents? Don't punish him, risk him dividing the Republican vote next election, but avoid worrisome precedents?
what proof, a tape of pelosi sitting in smoky back room saying whispering "commit the fraud" into a phone, shot in 8k with orchestral crescendo? this isn't hollywood, reality is much more mundane.
besides, it doesn't really matter. what matters it the perception that the election was legit, because it stopped being about biden or trump on november 4th when irregularities popped up everywhere. where did the dems do anything to assure every voter there was no fraud and their vote will matter in the future? they and the media certainly were all for it when they were screeching about russian interference
for years.
of course, you could say "well, this just shows elections are safe" - where's that proof tho? after wasting everyone's time and money, it should be easy to point out why fraud wouldn't work. instead we get eye-brow if not outright hair raising accounts all over the place - which again, apparently no one had any interest to look into, and trump only did it because he's a sore loser. dead voting for dems is just a funny maymay, there's never is fire when there's smoke and it can never get to a point where it crosses a line, because.... fire has restraint I guess?
besides, even if we go with the version that the election was 100% legit (which never happens), what does that say about what people want? what were they voting for? there was no blue wave, at best people were sick of trump (after a constant barrage of outrage media since 2015), corona and tired of [current year], because the other guys sure as hell had no plan if you even saw him and it wasn't a lid day.
yet they still voted for the guy that wanted "100 days of wearing a mask after his inauguration" and stuffed his cabinet with some of worst idpol tards and tech industry people you've seen in a while, with a VP that was so unpopular she was one of the first to drop out of the race. least we could laugh about silly trump not wearing a mask because he thinks covid is overblown... wait what?
we have an honest to good biden voter in this thread who unironically thinks "I just wanted a reasonable person to be at the Bridge as we go through the inevitable economic nightmare and heath crisis we are in for." (I can't even copy that with a straight face, holy shit).
and again, if trump is such a loose cannon and fascist leader, how can he be banned from twitter and unpersoned 10 days before he leaves office anyway? meanwhile the same people that talk about "unity" and "healing" couldn't even keep it in their pants till trump is out of the picture to make lists and are one step away from sending everyone with a red cap to a
gulag "democratic enlightenment camp", because dem voters are the intelligent ones and would never fall for propaganda (just don't be white), where trump simply has to say "jump" and 75 million people ask how high apparently.
feels like I'm sitting in jericho and the israelites are using fucking clown horns...
