I'm curious as to what his "high-paying" "recession-proof" job because I surmise it's about as lucrative as Terror House Magazine is successful. I think he realized how much of a prolonged L he's taken over the past decade and is now trying to save face.

Remember that he was writing college entry essays for foreign students at one time. I would guess that even those are halcyon days compared to Forney's current position.

But I don’t care anymore. I’m cleaning house for a fresh start. If bums want to pick through my garbage, I can’t stop them. But they’re still bums. If you enjoyed my older writing, I appreciate that, but it’s time for me to move on. At this point in my life, I’m perfectly happy to fade into the background and have my past forgotten.

This comes off as a remarkably weak cope for Forney. Midlife crisis, perhaps (he is in his mid-30's now).

Does anyone have any insight into how accurate Alexa data usually is? Is "1 Daily Pageviews per Visitor" for THM correct?

I too thought that he listened to his good buddy Aaron Clarey and went on welfare. He has no job skills, his reputation is radioactive, and his resume would be embarrassing to share with a legitimate employer. As far as saving face goes, he really should have done this 8 years ago or so (when was it again?), when In Mala Fide ended, and the rumors about his whole persona being a fraud were still whispers. He could have still dropped a few clickbait articles now and then on places like ReturnofKings and collected the pocket change. He could have returned to a semi-normal life (as normal as a cripplingly awkward person could have) at that point.

His entire career since he started MattForney.com has been running on the fumes of his notoriety. It has been a truly pathetic decade for him. His worst decision, honestly, was to do podcasts and audio interviews. Not everyone who is socially awkward has a bad voice, but anyone with a voice like Forney's is unmistakably socially awkward.

I still maintain that Forney's biggest mistake was his decision to start blogging under his real name. Writing under a nom de plume afforded him the ability to cultivate whatever image his writing demanded, and at the time there were more than enough gullible readers in the PUA-sphere to lap that up.
