So as far as I can tell from that screenshot. It says follow manufacturer directions.
I’m sure the cases go down, but the screenshot words don’t say anything about false positives. Are we sure about this or what?
Edit: it does say that disease prevalence going down increases false positives - my bad. I apologize and now I am equally likely to test positive even if everyone around me had it and is immune.

The vax roll out is already turning in to a complete shitshow in NYC. Coumo floated buying directly from phizer. People jumped through hoops to get registered only to be called on the day of their appointment to be told they ran out. Tomorrow they probably will fully run out.
Deblosio wants to just give the doses earmarked for 2nd shot to people as the first shot. Which means they are just going to be writing off the 2nd dose because no way they will get restocked x2 in 21 days. And this is with the program only open those 75 and older who have risk factors.
When do you think they will be able to move to the next phase? At this rate June? Think there will be 2 classes of people now? 1shots vs 2shots?

With all the stories coming out about this vaccine lately I'm leaning toward-if not comfortably seated in-the "fuck this shit" column for now. Mom decided to schedule her vaccine appointment as soon as they lowered the age limit in NY to 65+ when just last month she was going on about how she was going to wait because she didn't trust it. When I asked her what made her change her mind she didn't know what I meant. Apparently she was never against waiting and her reasoning was it seems fine, or something along those lines. I don't know what the fuck happened there. Told my Dad about the waiting list I declined and he sounded like he was about to faint from disbelief. I'm surprised I haven't been barred from entering the house without a mask until my grandmother is fully vaxed (she's probably healthier than the rest of us put together).
Also, got a text from work with a notice about a "vaccination information session" via zoom meeting. I'm curious to see what exactly it's about (I'm assuming there are some special exceptions for employees or some students they want to make people aware of if they want to get vaccinated sooner) but I have to access this from my work email, which I am currently locked out of and don't feel like jumping through the hoops to access it again right now.

If you have a hobby you can take advantage of I'd suggest that. Personally I like building model kits. Not very good at it, but it's somewhat delicate work so it keeps you focused.I don't watch tv often. Like an hour a day when eating dinner with my grandma and chilling after.
but I've noticed a huge amount of commercials for online therapy and antidepressants and shit.
I bet big pharma is lining their pockets good and fat with all this...
PS anyone tried online therapy. I'm very hesitant to try it but...

I believe Biden wants to impose a national moratorium on evictions as part of his first 100 days/COVID package. Even if he can't or doesn't do that, states and localities with blue leadership have already extended their moratoriums.
Landlords really are behind the 8-ball. The indefinitely-extended moratoriums might help their tenants that have lost hours or their jobs due to COVID, but landlords have few resources available to help them cover any rental property-related expenses that they can't pay without the rental income. Another side-effect from what I heard over the weekend is that people discovering squatters on their property can't remove them if an eviction moratorium is in place.
Given the question of enforcing a national mask mandate versus states rights, Biden's order requiring masks at Federal buildings/property is probably the best he can constitutionally do.
A Biden-ordered lockdown could happen, but some Blue states are acting as if they might lift or eliminate restrictions now that one of their own is President and it won't surprise me if some of the number fudging ends to make it look like case numbers are dropping dramatically now that Biden is in office -- vaccine rollout issues notwithstanding.
Now the the Democrats control both the executive and legislative branches, I wonder if they might use the pandemic as a way to impose UBI like many in the party have discussed. It would sound plausible if they spun it as a way to help people replace the income they've lost over the past 10 months. However, I can see the party allowing those payments to continue once they deem the pandemic over despite the price cost.
If either party could present a united front when they controlled the Presidency and both chambers of Congress, they get some serious shit accomplished. As we've seen before -- especially during Obama's and Trump's presidencies, the majority party tends to squander their advantage and accomplish noting before one or both of the branches of Congress flips to the opposing party. If the Dems don't unite and find a way to reign in their most liberal members, it's very possible that they will accomplish little in the next two years.
It's been my belief that COVID has been politicized to make Republicans look bad and incompetent. However, it can't be helping the Democrats -- except with their most die hard constituents -- that the areas they currently control have had all kinds of issues with successfully vaccinating people at the numbers that had promised or hoped for.
This is a good suggestion. I've also used some of the time to get rid of old junk I don't need and catch up on items that were indefinitely postponed for whatever reason.

I know this isn't the stocks thread but I'm wondering when the market correction will happen due to covid induced crunch. Not trying to tmi but I'm young enough the play is to ride the market win lose our draw, but I feel a 10k DJIA haircut is inevitable and want to move my shit to bonds now then get back in when its over. Any financial savy farmers got advice? I've read some blogs saying a crash is coming but they are all tied to institutions so they caveat with "don't take our forecast to pull your money out".

that was I was pondering early last year already. sunken cost is a hell of a thing, and now that they doubled down for so long, saying "teehee, we were wrong. sowwy!" is political suicide, if not literally depending how hard some individuals got fucked over and are out for blood.
there won't be any UBI, I can guarantee you that. for the simple reason they can't afford it. "printer goes brrr" only works for so long, and even shorter with millions of illegals which would be eligible too, but don't pay taxes in return (they're dems after all).
at best you'll see the word thrown around, but either hardly anyone will get it since the requirements are unrealistic on purpose, or tied to some many deductions that it doesn't make any difference. so in practice completely meaningless.
UBI will forever be a pipe dream, as nice as it sounds on paper. same as communism.
otoh I really want them to crawl up their own ass so far they're seriously doing it. least this way shit will be over sooner rather than later.

I have been hearing stories of things like private landlords not being allowed to evict tenants who don't pay, but they themselves are able to be evicted out of their own condo rentals by banks/larger corporations. Is this accurate?

This is what ive been saying earlier in the thread. I’d argue 30 cycles and above does not indicate communicable infection absent symptoms but this is a start.
Our methods in the US usually stop around 40, this would shave off a few positives in our place but not a ton.
A lot of this ‘asymptomatic’ nonsense is a real problem. Theres no data to suggest asymptomatic people are serious vectors of disease, theres no real way to distinguish them between false positives, and more than half of all covid testing is about catching these people when it’s debatable whether they need to be detected.
Before covid you would never diagnose a disease via pcr alone without correlated symptoms. At least not without a few repeats. We didn’t mass test healthy people via pcr for communicable diseases that caused visible illness before this so all the asymptomatic is all guesswork right now. Its new territory so its currently used in the most advantageous light.
Right now the advantage is not interpreting them as “cases”.
