Jerry doesn't believe he's already won, simply that the only thing stopping him from winning is that everyone else is too stupid to see the 'simple' solution of 'don't be shitty people'. With his stories having his characters win people over not through charisma, nor through proving their points or even leading by example; his characters win allies simply by the plot forcing all opposition into a situation where they have to support the character's pursuits. Like in the current chapter, Alaina does everything wrong and gives the Republic ample reason to distrust her and disavow all of her friends as traitor, but it doesn't matter because the Republic doesn't have the resources to do anything about it and thus have to bow to her superior power base.

It's amusing that he calls it "economic fiddling", as if fixing the enormous gulf between the haves and have-nots is just a few typos that need to be checked for once the real work is done.

Economic disparity is everything. The replacement of class with immutable identities was one of the worst thing to happen to the labour movement since its inception. It removes the concrete reality and end-states of the struggle against economic disparity and substitutes an eternal struggle against an ever-changing abstraction, which suits the hyper-wealthy just fine.

That's one of the fundamental problems with this kind of ideology. You can look at different parts of the world where White People aren't endemic and see the same issues arising. India is a highly stratified society and it's not because they're ruled by a white upper class. South Africa has been slaughtering white Afrikaaner farmers for years and somehow that's not fixing their problems. How much of China is living at the poverty level because of a Chinese government run by the Chinese?

It's almost like there's an issue with the human condition and white people aren't the center of evil.

But saying 'white people bad' is an 'easy fix' because it's a visible problem and it doesn't require any personal responsibility. You aren't giving people a chance for upward mobility (which they would still have to work for), you're just dragging other people down. Technically a form of equalizing, but not one that actually helps anybody.

But it's easier to destroy than to create, and trying to find nuanced solutions to complex problems is haaaard.
