Is it possible to bring an LCD running? Mine blackout the moment I turn it on. It'll show Dell and blip. Just like that.

Yep it is, but the problem is it's normally not worth it after a certain point (it's just easier an cheeper to toss it an get a new one). If it's a laptop LCD go on ebay and find the same model some one is getting rid of and canablise it for parts, if it's a desktop display unless your good at electrical fault finding an are comfortable replacing things like blown capacitors.

In your case though it sounds more like a software issue, if it's displaying the Dell splash screen the OS is either sending the display output to a external port or it's just hanging after boot and unable to display anything. If you can record a video an upload it to YT of what it's doing I can diagnose it further.

I have gone through a few laptops before settling on a prebuilt desktop rig (relied on some money I saved in bank along with parents money. They sadly thought I'd screw up the parts plus one of them gets a discount through Target). As far as I remember with the laptops, I had a thinkpad (gave it to a cousin. Despite the specs being crap by todays standards, I loved the thing) and two others (a Toshiba or Samsung, and an HP. The former overheats but the latter I keep stored away).

As for my current desktop PC:
FX 8320, Powercolor R7-250x, 1 8GB stick of RAM, 1TB Caviar Blue HD, stock amd cooler. I do hope to upgrade my PSU to something better like an Antec or EVGA PSU, preferably around the 600 ranges. Also want to get a better CPU cooler and good video card that is below 9 inches since the prebuilt uses a NZXT Source 210 case and I don't think the driver cage can be removed.

Here's my collection of computing devices:

Processor: Intel Core i3 3220 3.3 ghz, Dual Core w/ hyperthreading
Motherboard: ASRock Z Extreme 4 or something. I forget.
Graphics: EVGA Nvidia GEFORCE 650ti 2gb vram version
Memory: 8gb 1333 RAM.
Storage: 1TB Seagate HDD
Power Supply: Corsair 430w
OS: Windows 7

It plays all the older games I want it to play. I want to upgrade in the future, but I don't have the money for it.

Lenovo G505s:

Processor: AMD A10-5750M Quad Core 2.5 ghz (3.5 ghz turbo)
Memory: 6gb of whatever came with it.
Graphics: AMD Radeon 8650G Mobile Graphics Solution (Video RAM is tied to available memory).
15.3 in 1366x768 screen (This will be the last laptop I plan to own with such a screen. This kind of pixel density for a laptop this size is unacceptable in this day and age.)
Storage: 1tb HDD
Case: NZXT Source 210 Black (Best budget computer case)
OS: Windows 8.1/Ubuntu 14.04 dual boot.

I use this one the most out of all my computers. I do all my schoolwork and productivity on Linux while using Windows for playing older games (It can even run Skyrim at decent settings). Battery life is terrible because of the powerful guts it has so it's almost always plugged in. Eventually I want to upgrade the RAM to 8gb.

Asus MeMO Pad 7 in

Processor: Intel Bay Trail Atom 1.3 ghz Quad Core
Memory: 1gb
Graphics: Intel HD Graphics solution (Runs Minecraft mobile really smoothly).
Storage: 16gb internal memory with support for up to 64gb micro usd cards.
Screen: 7 inch 1200 x 800 (Surprisingly crisp looking for it's size).
OS: Android 5.0 Lollipop

This is my most mobile computing device. I put it in my small backpack while wandering around the city and I encounter free wifi. Battery life lasts me good 6-7 hours when I'm doing heavy internet browsing. I also bought a special keyboard case for it off of Amazon so I could have a proper typing experience; perfect for writing code on the go.

Since this device has proper 64-bit Intel architecture, I eventually want to find a way to install Ubuntu touch or something so I can have a proper Linux experience with it.

I love your specs! How much did it cost you altogether?
It was a Christmas present by my parents, so I don't know the exact sum of money, but it was really, really expensive. Some stuff like the monitor was bought separately, if I'm not mistaken.
this thread is making me really jealous

does anyone know any good get rich quick schemes
Start a fundraiser at Kiwi Farms, I guess?

Can I upload it on here if possible? I can at least try and upload it onto Quicktime or WMV if I can.

EDIT: I may get a Chromebook sometime later in the near distant future just to have something for internet browsing and word processing. I don't have a high paying job atm to get a high quality desktop/laptop. I just dislike my current setup beyond my control.

How is the Alienware? I heard that it was bought by Dell a while ago and Alienwares aren't what they used to be.
I heard that too, but since I've never owned an Alienware before so I can't compare it. It runs great, plays everything I need it too and makes digital art/rendering a breeze so no complaints here. People complain about the noise but mine is super quiet.
I really don't know how the pre-Dell ones could have been better than the one I own-- not to brag but it's a really nice machine. Maybe the old ones also made coffee or something

My current rig specs:

Processor: AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz (overclocked to 4.22GHz with a Hyper 212 EVO cooler)
Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-970A-UD3
Graphics: AMD R9 270x 2GB
RAM: 10GB DDR3 1600Mhz
Storage: 1TB Seagate HDD / SDD Hybrid
PSU: Corsair CX500
OS: Windows 8.1

Hoping when I get some money in to upgrade my PSU to a XFX P1-750S-NLB9 750W and buy another R9 270x / HD 7870 to CrossFire with. Also thinking about building a low-spec Steam Machine with some spare parts I have lying around at some point.

I have 2 custom PCs for different purposes (don't have the specs right now) and a laptop. They all run Windows 7.

What is your budget?

As of now, minimum wage with some freelance works currently underway, and I have a seasonal temp job coming soon that's also minimum wage.

From what I've been told Alienware, pre-Dell was much better. I haven't looked into the differences just yet and no the old ones didn't make coffee. Lol(I know it was a joke, don't flame me).

Jealous of your specs. Love the Dr. Katz avatar by the way.

For people in the market for a newer box, don't rule out refurbished or off lease units. You can sometimes find really good hardware that's being practically given away if you do a little digging.

I mean, what are you looking to spend on a box?

This. I shopped around and got my MBPr for 1,700 and paid no taxes on it. It was brand new as well. Another bit of advice is that if you are looking for a gaming rig, try see if you can find one that is being sold by someone building a new one. i know some people who drop big money every year to build new rigs and some times you can get a great PC for only a fraction of the price it was new. Top of the line parts that are only one or two generations behind will still chew through any game on the market today.

My main computer is:
CPU: Intel Core i5 4670K @ 3.40GHz
RAM: 8gb (2x4gb corsair vengeance)
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770
HDD: 1tb western digital drive
I have no idea what PSU I have but it's a corsair one.
That's all in a cm storm enforcer case.

my laptop/work computer is a bit older. I don't have the exact specs here, but it's an older Asus ROG laptop. It has an older generation i5 CPU, gtx 360m gpu, 4gb ram, 500gb harddrive. It has serious heating issues so I always have it on a coolermaster UX3 cooling pad.

Anything in the range between $300-$700. I want to be able to play games like Garry's Mod, Counter-Strike 1.6, Source and probably GO, and a few indie Steam games, along with web browsing and word processing when doing my writing. I know I want a lot for a price range like that and most of what I want will come around $1,000+.

How old is your Asus?
