I don't know if this applies to all transgender people but I feel this whole trend has something to do with an escapism urge.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Trooning out is the secular prog version of being born again. You get to start completely fresh and reinvent yourself, while taking no responsibility for anything. The difference is more genital mutilation.

With a lot of online video games such as mmos people who claim to be female get WAY more attention (There’s a lot of thirsty single guys) and with anime I agree with @Jack Awful autistic people often don’t get subtleties, like they’ll watch a lesbian anime that’s clearly made for a male audience or a gay anime aimed at women and then identify as a character in the show even though it’s clearly supposed to be an escapist fantasy (They’re typically slice of life comedies rather than full on erotic).
