He turned it into a job and that was fine because he didn't have large expenses. He got more money than he could spend on games, figurines, food and the mortgage. He didn't really have any expensive hobbies or needs. He barely needed to upgrade his equipment and still he more or less raked in money. These were the good years.

Then came the not so good years and with them a not so good girl, PandaLee. After she and Phil pissed off a bunch of subs and viewers she pretty much forced him to move to a state with low business taxes because she wanted to sell soap... Now he can't afford to change and he can't afford to stop so whenever the views drop he's an inch closer to a stroke.

I wouldn't wanna live his life. Always on the edge, always worrying about how many views you are getting while you sleep, always worrying about your subs and your machinima contract, always worrying about your "haters" pointing out another of your faults. At least air traffic controllers get a long vacation, you get to pay for your own staycation.

That was depressing to watch. It wasn't Jak II levels of bad, but damn, you could tell Phil almost went completely lost it.

Makes me feel sorry for him in a way.

Also makes you wonder, if Phil never had this as his job, more like a hobby and never met Pandalee, do you think he could've been a good Let's Player? I hear talk about him being better before MGS so it really does make wonder what could've been if had kept this a hobby and not a source of income.

I could see a decent amount of what he's doing now still being in that hypothetical, but I think he'd have been at the very least more appreciative overall with his games and possibly less of a money grubbing shit monger. I'd predict a slower degradation into shoe eating lunacy at the very least.

He was never really good at any particular game aside from Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo and Marvel VS Capcom 1 (and he was only decent at that game). Aside from fighters, I don't think he ever really cared about a game enough to get good at it.

- Lots of overshooting or undershooting his jumps, leading to complaints about game design later in video.
- Basically Phil can't play a game that was marketed towards both children and adults.
- Same shit, different game.

Nah, PandaLee or him doing this full time just accelerated the issue. The problem with Phil isn't that he's a bad entertainer, let's player, whatever. The problem is that he's a shitty person and it shines through whatever he does.

I think he did like games back in the day but these times he doesn't have the time to like a game because game x is coming out on thursday and he needs to get in those day 1 views. You could say that he still does to a degree, he spent a ton of money on that freemium rasslin game.

Just to remind everyone: this was made by the same guy (DSP, not the uploader obviously) who bitched about other people on youtube having fake personas, facecam and other stupid gimmicks.

Shit, I found and played my old Crash Bandicoot disc not long ago! In fairness, it's probably the trickiest of the original Crash games: there are definitely levels like Hog Wild that are made harder because of wonky hitboxes and dodgy controls (PS1 platformers -- ain't that the way?), and sod any game that doesn't let you save after each stage; but none of that really matters when you've got timing and spatial awareness as bad as Phil's.

It was pretty transparent anyway, but you can tell that his hype at the beginning was fake as hell the further you get through the video and the more it becomes apparent that he's never actually played a Crash game before.

"Ripper Roo? Sounds like a kangaroo. Could be a boss fight."

I don't know what's worse: The horribly fake overreactions or the fact that he made this game look like Dark Souls in terms of difficulty.

EDIT: He doesn't figure out that multiple masks makes Crash invincible until hes a couple of levels from the final boss. My sides have gone to another galaxy.

When you get frustrated and burnt out like Phil, I can understand some of his denseness; when you get like that, you really don't want to bother to figure out how you're fucking up or think about it; you just want the problem to go away. Basically since he's frustrated, he doesn't want to think or learn how to deal with it. Top that off with a fairly low affinity towards games, and you get a guy that seems incapable of learning; he's not naturally good at games and the frustration of this being his life makes him not want to actually play the game or learn how to play it.

That don't explain his autistic and childish jokes, but that's also easy to explain because he's a manchild himself and he's just appealing to the lowest common denominator 'cause it's easy. It's always easier to insert toilet humor than it is to construct one with out said humor.
