Online dating, relationships and encounters discussion.

I could understand if you're on a dating site if you're an older person or maybe if you can't interact with the opposite sex at all (not someone who deliberately doesn't do it), but other than that, dating sites are horrible if you're looking for a long time partner. I was on Match.com once and was shocked by the type of people on there. It's one thing not wanting to date someone because they're not in your preferences (height, weight, etc.) but my God. Painful and hateful rubbish.

I would love to see the reactions if they made a dating site called whitepeoplemeet. Personally, I think it's kinda stupid to make a dating site sorely for one race since you could easily go on any of these dating sites and put what race you want, but the uproar would be hilarious.

yeah, like anything internet related you have to be prepared to filter out the assholes, too many folk seem to feel entitled to a lingerie or Calvin Klein model.
I have a friend who was moaning on Facebook while back about how only ugly guys message her on Match.com. I had to stop myself from pointing out that it's probably because of that attitude that she's in her mid 30's, unmarried and childless despite desperately wanting both.

To think, if a man walked up to me at a bar and said this, it'd be really, really fucking creepy.

Some dude online said:
I'm a big believer in honesty and directness, so I'll be straight-up: I'm looking for an adventurous woman who wants to explore her sensual side. I've been in the swingers club scene, so if that's something you might be interested in, feel free to ask about it. The main thing I am looking for is someone who enjoys weekend play dates at a nice hotel with jacuzzi, or a hot springs, with plenty of toys, porn, and good food. Interest in group sex/clubs is a plus, but not required. I'm on the dominant side, but I don't take it too far.

But because it's online and anonymity is a thing, it's okay to simply saturate a woman's inbox with this trash.

I never closed down the fake OKCupid account I made a few months ago for the online creepers thread. It still gets messages regularly, so I may go through them at some point and post the best.

I just had the best fucking idea ever. That OKCupid account currently has about 220 messages. After I go through them and get my fill of funny ones, I'm going to change the profile pic to a Slaton Sister and start replying to the more pathetic ones and see what happens. *yawn*

I have Tinder installed on my phone. I use it sometimes, but my luck has been pretty dismal. In fact, I daresay that after I changed my primary pic of me with sunglasses to one without and proudly proclaiming that I'm a Gamer, whereas once I used to get maybe a match or two (not counting bots), now when I go on, I get no matches.

With results like that, it kinda makes me wary of trying a "real" site like OKC.

So since I met up with this one guy I was talking to at a convention, we've started seeing each other. In addition to sharing some common interests, he also makes me feel better about myself. I think I'm gonna stop using OkCupid for now so I can focus on building our relationship, even though guys keep messaging me.

Obviously things may not work out, but this is new for me and I recently received my first kiss from him, so I wanna see where it goes.

One advantage to dating sites or the internet in general is that shy people have more time to let the good parts of their personality shine. The only comparable real life situation is one where people are forced to be around you a lot, like at work (if you're into that).

Awww :heart-full:

I think there are more subtle ways in saying you're a gamer, like, "I like to play video games". If she's a gamer too, she'll be cool with it. Just tell her you don't support GG at all.

Totally different demographic. Someone like you would do better on OKC.

How about not mentioning it at all?

Yeah I mean anything having to do with Gamer Gate is not something you want advertised to a potential mate as one of the first things they learn about you.
And if she knows what gamergate is it really shouldnt be that hard to get with her.

Well, made an okcupid account on the advice of a friend. Felt pretty bad going into it. Feel kind of worse now.

I had a Tinder for maybe a week and realized that I'm a judgmental bitch. I live by a University with a big focus on engineering, so a lot of the guys had these yearbook-photo-esque pictures and were trying to look super clean-cut. No long-haired metalheads anywhere. Not even a crust punk. How boring!

Sometime in the future, I shall tell you the story of how my ex's mother got catfished on Christian Mingle.

I had a long distance boyfriend once online. We been friends for years and over the time I developed a crush on him. For while he keep saying he don't know how he feels about me till one day he kinda asked me out. So we tried to do a online relationship but the whole thing felt one sided. Not to mention on his twitter he kept posting that he was aromatic and was tired of his parents hounding him about getting into a relationship. I confronted him about that and he said he is not sure if was that and he was not sure about anything about himself.I was pretty pissed off and hurt.

We are still friends though and i forgave him but online relationships are crap to me now.
