On the issue of the clones vs. robots thing:

They were pretty well explained in film. Robots are basically cheap troopers the CIS got from the Trade Federation; think of them kind of like how the British viewed tanks in the Interwar in a way; what was the cheapest model to make? These pieces of shit. Clones were mainly just a Palpy gambit that worked due to maneuvering people and pieces around, though even then they were an idea he stole and augmented for himself.

It was done dryly and I legit understand why a person thinks it's dumb. The two sides at the end of a day come off as replaceable, especially on the droids' side (not just due to setting, but because B-1s are so cheap they work kind of like the geth in some ways, where they have a main server drive that commands them). Clones to a lesser extent, because you can do some interesting drama around being born to fight and kill (Soldier as a film does this), and the standard angst of being a short lived clone akin to Bladerunner.

But it's there. Done drily and with a director who mainly cared for visuals over story, but it was there.

Also thought for the Day: CIS is basically a parody of the older Libertarian party if it did lines of coke and had drug-sex with Objectivism.

I highly recommend James Luceno's Cloak of Deception, which sets up the situation pre PM.

I'll just dump some of the PreDisney lore fuck info that I'd gathered for my Empire spergery.

Pre-Clone wars the Galactic Republic consisted of regions. The Trade Federation is one of a number of conglomerates that carried trade in the planet's of the Outer Rim via hyperspace lanes blazed by navigators from said conglomerates. For this reason, the Old Republic made Trade in these Outer Rim worlds Tax Exempt.

Due to this, they were able to make a fortune and by crushing competition down to a handful of mega corporations they effectively had a death grip on the planets of the Outer Rim. As a result, many of these worlds turned to piracy as an answer to gross exploitation. Sidious encouraged these groups and their raids while at the same time backing the TF, Techno Union, and Commerce Guild's request for military defense for their shipping concerns. The Federation was at the center piece of Sidious' plan, as he raised Gunray to power and put him in contact with Baktoid Combat Automata. The Old Republic, in response to the egregious practices passed tax reform, leading to an end of the tax exemption.

This brings us to PM, where the TF, protesting the taxation of its trade routes uses the army Sidious led them to purchase to protest by occupation the homeworld of one of the key architects of taxation, Senator Palpatine.

The end result of Naboo is that the various conglomerates became alienated from the Republic and the Jedi. This provided the monetary and military power base necessary to found an alliance of systems with legitimate grievances against the Old Republic.

I don't know where any of this stands post Disney. They seem to just nuke everything no matter what, but they haven't put anything in its place.

Ok sure, but A) Anakin hates sand and B) Pod racing broke TPM's pacing, so none of this post is relevant. Ergo the prequels are a disaster with no planning and Disney saved star wars.

Some News...
1: So it looks like the High Republic decided to set up the Jedi's downfall by pinning it all on Yoda's poor "but well meaning" decisions instead of it being Tenebrous, Plagueis and Palpatine fucking with them from the shadows and making Yoda the one who put in the no marriage rule despite that said rule had been around since the Tales and KOTOR era.

2: One of the other big threats in the 420 Republic are gigantic "star-locusts" that eat geographies...
1611606965886.png

They sure know how to make some impressive and unique threats eh?

3: Also remember the claim of a KOTOR remake by Bespin Bulletin I talked about yesterday? Well the rest of the MSM has caught up.
So I guess its likely true... FFS. Its not being made by EA/Bioware, but if the mandates they forced on Bioware are still the same, then the KOTOR remake will have to differ considerably from the original and have to feature tie-ins to the sequels and nucanon and little to no old canon references... Oh joy. Watch Revina the Genderfluid go to Exogol to stop Vitiate Sheev Palpatine and his son Snoke who he will immortalize as a clone while we find out that Rey is really Revina reborn, that HK-47 becomes Mr. Bones, Mandalore the Ultimate is actually just three Baby Yodas in a mansuit and that Dr. Aphra sees it all via time travel...

4: In lesser news, Disney-Lucasfilm brought back Allya, the rogue jedi founder of the Witches of Dathomir, for nucanon... only to make her a lie that never existed in nucanon and was just made up by Nightsisters. As if Fallen Order making Dathomir nothing but Filoni Nightsisters with no Rancors or Kwa wasn't bad enough.

For a company that claims to love strong independent women, they sure do love to put down and devalue women that weren't made or approved by them.

Still furious about them making a whole new giant alien bat thing to fight instead of using a perfectly good Rancor.

It's amusing how even after nuking the EU and having a clean slate, Disney/LFL have yet to make even one female character who has the depth, nuance or even sheer likability of any of the classic EU heroines. They've had seven fucking years of Nu-Canon, and none of their blasé, milquetoast female role models hold a candle to the likes of Mara Jade, Bastilla Shan, Jaina Solo, Tahiri Veila, Tenel Ka, or even villainesses like Kreia or Darth Zannah.

Fuck, at this point, I think devaluing the old characters is the only way for them to paint the new ones in any sort of positive light. It's already a classic tactic by the Disney Drones in the fandom:

"F-Fuck you, Rey is SO MUCH BETTR than Mara Jade, her journey has so much depth and Mara's just a teenaged boy's fantasy, REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"
--Someone on r/StarWars Cantina, probably

Um, excuse me, did you not see how many of them are BLTQQKKKAAAAAAA+ genderqueers with skrillex haircuts? How can you say they have no depth when it is very clear they are sexually attracted to women and they are diverse colored people. Or not sexually attracted to anything but still BICP representatice, as is the case with the blue hair resistance spy that everyone loves and still cares about a whole bunch.

So they're finally going to butcher my favorite part of Star Wars. I have no doubt they're going to release a horrendous product, and yet I feel detached, knowing the old, superior continuity will still be there no matter what Disney does, available on the internet (yarr matey) as well as in used bookstores and flea markets from which Disney won't see a dime.

All they will accomplish with this and every other such endeavor is sink their money into yet another failed product that will be picked apart and mocked, thereby providing us with free entertainment. I look forward to those free laughs.

Only bunker that's still remotely active is this one:
But it only gets like 5 or 10 posts a week. Most activity has been the High Republic thread. As for /strek/, its completely dead. The community there moved back to 4chan /tv/ from what I understand, but its a fucking mess as with most of 4chan.
It's a damn shame, /sw/ and /strek/ were two of my go-to boards before 8chan got torpedoed by Cloudflare. Everyone split off into a bunch of different bunkers, with various groups arguing over which was the true [x] board. By the time 8chan finally stabilized again, most didn't choose to go back, and the bunkers' communities shrank as people realized that the population was likely not going to increase anymore. I went and looked at 8chan again the other day, and it's completely dead aside from /pol/ and various Q boards, and even those barely limp along.

It's a damn shame, too. Both boards were very vocal about their distaste for the new directions their respective franchises have gone, a breath of fresh air when most "fan communities" are filled with consoomer drones these days. Had quite a few nice discussions there, but all good things come to an end, I suppose. I remain thankful that the farms exist so we can shitpost about Disney Wars and nu-Trek together.

They're going to destroy Yoda! I can't believe they got this approved.

I don't know if you guys know about this thing
Who used the monkey's paw this time? (I'm Zaryiu)

We're a couple of years, max, from Kotor's twentieth anniversary. That plus rumors for over a year that a remake is in the works.

None of that would be a bad thing, KOTOR rocks and a remake should be easy enough. But yeah, everything I've read indicates that this has been apart of their road map. Retool KOTOR to fit in their new mythology. Which would be fine, if this wasn't the some people giving us the post Endor Disney Lore fuck.

Just like with the Mando. It's the same fucking idiots that have been there since Force Awakens.

You just made the conflict make sense. The one, going into TPM, that made everyone ask the person next to them if they had gone into the wrong theater, when all the "taxation of trade route" blather started up.

If you have to pay a guy to write a novel to explain what people need to know walking in, going cold into your movie, then that is bad writing. I am not a prequel hater, far from it, but I recognize the problems with the films, and shit almighty, this is one of them.
