/r/wsb autists taking on a wallstreet hedgefund. Elon musk involved as always / wallstreetbets / gamestop - Gamergate 2: financial boogaloo

I'm not a finance expert but from my understanding:
There are about 70 million $GME (gamestop) shares in existence and there are a bit more than 52 mil in the market. $GME has been shorted for about 120%. Current price is 240$ and the break even for the shorts was 20$. So the elites are vulnerable for a loss of about 50 000 000 * 120 * (240-20) = 1.3 * 10^12. (quick maths, don't quote me on this)
That is right. They are vulnerable for 1.3 trillion USD.
All on a retarded bet. This is brinkmanship with the economy at stake.

It really is indefensible. Opening yourself up to untold losses just because you think that no one else will notice and strike while the iron's hot. Hedgies get fucked.

I'm going to get alot of shit for this, but why do we still do the "pronouns in the bio" thing like it's a valid argument

But when they do it for anime icons, suddenly it's not fair and judgemental?

The person is still a dumbass of course, and I know "people who tend to have them are spregs"
But I feel like people are setting up for gotcha when they do that

Reasoning may vary but i think the anime pictures are from people operating on so many layers of irony that they don't even know their sincere feelings anymore while the pronoun people are 100% serious and will use it a cudgel to get you to accept their views.

"A portion"

They shorted over 100% of Gamestop. They'll have to buyback more than "a portion".
They shorted close to 140% of the total stock but you have to consider the stock held by the CEO+boards aren't actively traded because of laws against insider trading.

They'd have to buy all actively traded stock probably a minimum of 2-3 times, to clear their debt

"B-b-b-but surely at the end of the day there will be discovery, and other very important legal proceedings of which I know nothing about, so that you filthy incel goyims will be properly punished for your insolence by fairly and legally playing the stockmarket, exploiting the unfathomable stupidity of Wall Street investors!"

Keep pouring those deliciously salty tears, faggot. How much money did you lose by investing like a moron?
It's a copypasta hun.
