How to archive a twitter thread again? I found some other hot takes, the usual suspects, of course

If you were busting ass and making content for 5+ years on different platforms, why would you get butthurt over Calli calling out people for "NOT MAKING CONTENT"

Do these people have basic reading comprehension?
That's the funny part. Calli is not talking about people like her. Calli would actually like and respect her for putting the work in and praise her

I looked into a bit of shirara and saw a little bit of her ohmori vod. I didnt find her boring or annoying. Why does she care? She isn't the target of the song she actually puts out work.
The problem with this kind if people is that they often see an insult against their "friends" is an insult to themselves. I know it's a good personality trait, arguably, but when your "friends" are just a bunch of people you only knew online and only for a while, that's the problem

If you want to be a plumber you need a plunger, if you wanna be a teacher you need study materials, if you wanna be a wood carver you need shitton of tools.
This applies for pretty much anything.
Moot point.
The point I'm agreeing with her is streaming tools is expensive. Try reading the whole sentence. Plunger is like 15 dollar on amazon, a gaming pc that can handle both stream and game might as well be a year salary worth. Not every single occupation have the same financial barrier. What I dislike about these vtwitters is that they know this and choose to whine instead just swallow it up like Mori and have like 5 jobs simultaneously to pay for it.

"It costs me $300 to produce a MV"

Retards missing the point. It costs Calli nothing because she makes them herself, paying other people to produce stuff for you isn't creating content.

Sure models, rigging etc aren't free, and you probably don't have the ability to make them yourself since it's kinda niche, but that's like complaining you can't stream videogames because your PC isn't good enough. Everything has a financial barrier to entry.

God I would stan the indie vtuber that does deus ex. I just hope bugmen don't start invading during the Hong Kong sections.

Those tweets are funnier the more I think about it lol All the EN girls were independents of one sort of another before getting their break with Hololive. And like another poster said, you don't even need a rigging starting out. Senzawa used to stream with a static image. Drawing seems like it would be the cheapest to start out with but I'm sure Ina had to pay for her drawing tablet.

I've seen giveaways of Live2D models going around from time to time, some with rigs some without... and even if all you get is the .PSD, Live2D Cubism has a 42 day free trial of the pro version.. and even if you somehow took longer than 42 days to rig a small model, the free version doesn't actually take anything from you as long as you keep the avatar a bust/half body; brian_tsui (Iron Vertex founder) hosts several Live2D tutorials on his youtube channel, including the entire 28 hour workflow of vtuber model.

There's no excuse.

Now for something more entertaining, look at Rena mistaking Load for Save in Majora's Mask.

Lazy fucking idiots. Gotta pay for commissions, overlay, rigs, model, video editing... unless you're Hoshimachi Suisei I guess, she got it for free because she, you know, just made the thing herself. Their idea of content creation is to sit behind a webcam and say funny things, which is total horseshit. Many successful youtubers including Senzawa, Pewdiepie, Nyanners and Gigguk start out making their videos from scratch. I have infinitely more respect for attention-seeking grifters than every TBA who feels they must pay for someone to produce their content for them or they simply can't do it. They're not a content creator, they're a kid who wants to just play video games as a job, except that even pro gamers put in hundreds of hours off-camera to get good.

Never mind that we have evidence of Holo or Niji girls making their own thumbnails, organizing events, reaching out for partners, recruiting people or having to pay for equipment, Calli herself included. Being a company hire obviously means you clap your hands and YAGOO drops $100,000 from the sky to pay for whatever you want.

That's a lot of word salad just to say "I feel being called out"

DemonDice literally spent 4 years on YouTube as a nobody. Her first video was uploaded 4 years ago. According to social blade, shes at 128k on that channel but a majority came from 2020 where she was under 1,000 until march of 2020. She got a lucky break joining Hololive, I don't think that's a wrong assessment, but considering Hololive now looks for actual entertainment talent, she actually did work her ass off in a foreign country to get to where she is. But asking people to put a little bit of effort to actually do even the tiniest amount of work in a hobby that you supposedly love makes her the bad guy. Got it.

anti-capitalist, anti-work anarchist
That's a lot of words to say "unemployed lazy NEET".

Also she had and still has a real job, because she never expected her hobby to pay the bills.

I don't know, I'm bad at analyzing songs, either wait for a Calli Genius video or for Salte to come in and decypher the lyrics frame by frame.
I only heard the song once (since I was actually streaming during its debut...you know, putting in work towards my dreams) so I'm not gonna deep-dive in it just yet but surface level she's saying that all her success is earned and she's waiting at the top for everyone else to get theirs. "Welcome to the Mountaintop" kind of implies that she's more than willing to share her throne and no one person can be someone else's idea of success. I have my own ideas of what success look like and I'm still working hard towards them. Staying motivated is difficult depending on the person but I echo Calli's sentiments pretty well. She has a lot of harsh words for the TBA crowd but she also views herself as an inspiration for other artists to get off their asses and start working to creating something they can be proud of. That's the gist of it, at least. The dissing is genuinely a moment of tough love since she can't outright call these people fucking posers (even though she probably really wants to, or maybe not since she's no longer than angry jealous bitch she was back from her early Dice days) but she definitely wants to see what they can do.
Holy shit the song. Everyone already said what I want to said. I'm just gonna grabbing popcorn and watch the faction war between TBD who agree with her message of "stop whining and produce something" and those who "everyone is vtuber even if they never produce anything owo".
I get into slapfights with people over this in Discords all the fucking time. Opinion is very split but it generally comes down to the question of "What is content?" This is why I expand my idea of what it means to be a Vtuber content creator to more than just people streaming stuff, especially if they don't do it because they lack the tech to do so. Since I'm less of an active performer (even though I am working on getting better at it) and much prefer to write, it's stupidly difficult to even find a proper platform for amateur authors to post their work that isn't just filled to the brim with shitty fanfics written by teenagers. Artists have it somewhat easy since they can crosspost their work on like 10 different sites in order to gain to traction.

The bottom line is this: Calli wants to see more people produce content no matter what, and shitposting on Twitter does not count as content. Post all the memes and horny bullshit you want but don't you fucking dare call yourself a content creator if that is all you do. If you're a streamer, stream. If you're an artist, draw. If you're a musician, play. Do anything to make stuff that you can be proud of, that's really what she wants.
HOLY. SHIT.
I could just repost some shit I made on Twitter a while ago regarding this very thing and the whole idea of cost but I'm not gonna. I've been leaked already so people can find it if they fucking want but I'll truncate my original statement here and cater it to this bitch.

People who think that Vtubing has to be expensive have a very narrow mindset when it comes to this sort of shit. I know; I was one of those people.

Money is a shortcut for time and effort. I am not artistically or technologically inclined at all so I am definitely someone who would end up paying someone else to rig something for me. In fact, that's what I did. A guy I met in the Calli discord was an amateur model maker so I asked him if he could make me a vroid model to use for vtubing and for a very modest fee he did it. I am very happy with the work he did and the only time I would consider retiring my vroid is if I had some money saved up to get a proper Live2D since those things actually cost a pretty penny, usually about 500 bucks if you want a half decent rigging job, and you have to provide the model yourself on that one.

Now let me break down Miss TBA over here's bullshit point by point and explain why it's all a bunch of fucking excuses I see time and again.

"Pay for commissions"
If she's talking about a PNG...50 bucks. That's the average going rate for a full 2D model reference sheet. I didn't even have one of those made up, I just had a couple paragraphs to describe my character and gave it to the guy who made my avatar. Yes, just write your own shit and give it to someone who can transform it, or learn to draw your own fucking self. You don't need to commission shit if you draw it and are good at drawing. In fact, most of these arguments can be reduced to "learn to do it yourself, you lazy fuck" but for the sake of argument (and because I have personal experience in not making my own shit) I'll provide evidence of cost-effective alternatives.

"Pay for overlays"
There are plenty of free overlays you can find all over the fucking place if you know where to look. Even if you don't, you don't need a custom job. Streamlabs has a subscription service of like 15 bucks a month. Sub to them for a month, find an overlay you like, download all the assets and then unsub. Boom, 15 dollar overlay. If you can't spare 15 fucking dollars or like a half hour googling shit, then I don't know where to start with you. Fuck, some vtubers I really like don't use overlays at all; they have a prep screen and and end slide, but their main stream is literally just the game and the avatar.

"Pay for rig and model"
FUCKING USE YOUR PNG IN THE FREE DISCORD OVERLAY TO MAKE IT BOUNCE WHENEVER YOU TALK. I see plenty of PNGTubers who do that sort of shit, or they just have their PNG character bust sitting there not moving. People DO NOT GIVE A FUCK about your model if you have the personality of a wet fucking blanket. Look at our dear friend Artemis. He probably paid at least a thousand dollars for that impressively rigged model but that model does not save him from being boring as fuck.

"You need an already established job"
Alright, Miss TBA. You got me there. I'm gainfully employed and can afford nice things for myself on occasion if I save my money for said nice things. I guess you don't have a big girl job just yet so maybe you should bother mommy and daddy for some money so you can join in on a trend that you'll promptly forget about in 6 fucking months while people who want to put in the work will put in the work.

As much as I shit on this point in particular, it is true. Someone told me the average age of these Vtubers; from their observation, it's no older than mid twenties, which is why you see so many of these little shits broadcasting their activism instead of keeping it more low-key like a reasonable fucking person. Most of these vtubers are students or at least not employed in anything other than retail, which...well, that's just an unfortunate circumstance of the world right now in terms of job hunting but I won't get into commie bullshit right now, not the place or time for that. I know a few very talented independent voice actors who work for peanuts; hell, one voice actor I follow used to work at a fucking dollar store but he was still putting in time to get auditions out there and try to make a name for himself. Still, barring equipment I needed to stream in general (a decent PC and a microphone) all the assets for my Vtubing stuff cost me roughly 100 bucks at the end of the day. To a broke as fuck student that seems like a lot, but even then these stupid kids think that you need like a grand in order to get started. Honestly you're better off investing that money in a good PC FIRST and then worrying about all your vtubing assets. These chucklefucks also seem that they already know they're gonna like streaming and be cut out for it before they even try...which is really fucking dumb because it's like wasting money buying a 1200USD Stratocaster and then finding out you actually hate playing music once you hold the fucking thing for the first time.

"She has a company backing her up"

Yeah, NOW she does. Who the fuck do you think taught Karen how to rap? She learned it herself through hard work and making friends in the right communities; specifically it was K's who served as her first proper mentor in things like breath control and syllabic coherence. Even before that she had a passion for what she wanted to do and stuck to it, and that led her to try to make proper friends to help her along the way. Before the company, when she was just Demondice, no doubt she ended up paying a lot of people a lot of money in order to help her produce her albums. She has admitted to not knowing how to mix tracks which is where K's comes in once again; I have no doubt she paid him for his services, and her work with FAKE-TYPE was compensated in addition to her paying them for some production work on things like Alkatraz. I'm pretty sure this dumb cunt is ignorant that Calli has been through all this shit herself as an independent artist with her own proper skills being animation and lyric writing/performing. Everything else, she found people to help her with and paid them to do.

People like this seriously piss me the fuck off. They'll find every excuse in the world to not produce content yet still act as if they're a Vtuber.

Hololive is also notoriously cheap as hell and doesn't pay for shit other than sending iphones with whatever software that makes the vtuber magic. iirc Kiara and Polka were pretty open about having to use their own money to replace their potato PCs and years later all the Hololive girls still make their own thumbnails. "Anti-work" means you will never sniff at the chance of getting picked up by anyone legit.

They should just play old games and save up for a better machine while cultivating an audience with oldies but goodies. Also to me it just show you want to play games you like and not chasing what's currently hot on the market.
Rig up a TF2 SFM model and roleplay one of the mercenaries. Hella popular game, premade models with amazing customization potential and runs on 2007 hardware. Don't even need to think up a character concept because the mercs are interesting enough already. Debut video provided by Valve corporation.

If anyone actually does this, you're welcome.

Is that what Itsagundam does? I swear his model or whatever looks like the TF2 Scout with a bunch of cosmetics on.
