Diseased Shippers, Anti-Shippers, and Shipping Wars - When fictional characters fucking each other is a political statement

I honestly have the same question concerning Transformers shipping. I think I'm missing something, but I'd never thought that adult women would get off to car robots for little boys shoving things into each other's exhaust pipes.
there are 3 reasons why fujoshi are drawn to transformers:
1. as it has a massive cast full of characters who have very distinct (if one-note) personalities and appearances so Hasbro however accidentally tapped into the same appeal that harem anime and boy bands have IE: someone who'll appeal to everyone
2. any mainstream franchise where the male to female ratio amongst the main cast is grater than 3:1 is guaranteed to attract fujoshi like flies drawn to rancid meat
3. IDW made them all gay

I never understood Kaiju shipping. Like, how did that fandom of all things attract shippers?
Once again, all according to keikaku.

He knew what he was doing.

I wonder what effect Godzilla vs. Kong will have on the kaiju shipping craziness? Will Kong get bashed for cockblocking Godzilla banging Mothra? Will people ship him with Mothra instead? Will KongXGodzilla be the true progressive gay OTP?

Just wild how people ship kaiju of all things.

Maybe Godzilla just needed to fuck something up since Mothra hasn't been putting out for millions of years. The MUTO took advantage and double-teamed him until he finally dominated, but that wasn't kinky enough (the "kiss of death" notwithstanding). Ghidorah was a good release, but Rodan was just getting in the way of the hatefucking.

Okay but for reals, I'm honestly dreading the new influx of ship material GvK will bring.

I find shipping wars pretty hilarious and harmless, as long as they argue over who's the better cartoon boyfriend and whine about representation -- but don't like, give each other cookies with needles in them. (Some Undertale wacko I believe.)
yes the needle cookie incident happened in Untertale fandom in May-July of 2017

Uh...whut? Honestly, Love Nikki is the first fandom where I have seen this sort of thing and I’ve been around. Not near enough I guess.

Luckily I still can't wrap my head around how anyone can be "ace" and/or "enby" and still be gay/lesbian/sometimes bi. Just one or other of the former should rule out the latter, but that would expose the bullshit of their fake sexualities.

Well Lady Luck bless thee no longer, because it's time for an explanation!

You can still be asexual while being concurrently gay/lesbian because of the concept of the Split Attraction Model. Essentially, it's the belief that you can still be romantically attracted to people without being sexually attracted. So, for example, a male asexual who is romantically attracted to other men is still gay, but that doesn't cancel out his asexuality because he has no desire to be with anyone sexually. Usually, with the Split Attraction Model, people will say they're "Homoromantic Asexual" to indicate that their romantic attraction is to the same sex but they have no attraction for any sex.

In regards to being enby and still being gay/lesbian, there's a lot of discourse surrounding that in the community. They keep making up a lot of labels for non-binary people attracted to certain genders. Though, that delves into the exclusionism vs inclusionism shit and honestly, it's a bunch of trifles for people to ultimately feel more oppressed.

Personally, I'm someone who really doesn't believe that much in microlabeling everything. I'd just call a dude attracted to a dude gay, no matter if they identify as asexual or not, because I hail from a time when your sexuality really wasn't something you needed to broadcast for brownie points. But, one has to adapt to the times.

Also, don't shoot the messenger. I'm just explaining what I know. :story:

Yup, yup! Shockingly, it wasn't a Western shipping extremist either. It was at a convention in Taiwan. Some psychotic kid gave a cookie full of needles to a Frisk/Sans shipper. Not sure if it was because of "killing a pedo who ships a pedo ship" or if it was just because of disliking the ship.

An article about it: https://medium.com/@trekfaerie/antis-will-have-a-body-count-89390b491716

Quite an interesting read in 2021, considering how much worse antis have gotten since the writing of this article. I don't believe there's been an incident as bad as this one since then, but I'd argue they've gotten much more hateful online and much deeper ingrained into their rhetoric since then. Everyone's an anti in certain fandoms these days because of how bad the treatment of pro-shippers/really anyone who doesn't give a flying fuck about the nonexistent consequences of smooshing your precious dolls' faces together is. It's a massive, worrying echo chamber.

I feel the same way. A lot of people do I'm sure, but it's hard to speak out, especially if you're a traditional member of the gay community.

All non binary has ever meant to me is you simply don’t allow your sex/gender to define who you are. Human first, sex/gender second. Nothing more. Gender noncomforming can work too.

I’ve grown to hate the microlabeling too. I suspect these kinds of people have never faced real adversity. They don’t know what oppression actually is, I bet.

I don't know what the funniest part of all of this is. There's the simple fact that this sperg who claims to be so utterly disgusted by all of this behavior sat around collecting evidence for all this time. There's also the fact that Teddie himself was also complicit in the harassment of pro-shippers and would be so preachy in public about them. Or, well, there's the matter of the sheer amount of quote tweets calling out how fucking batshit OP's actions are.

It's so hilarious because a lot of pro-shippers are telling people not to defend Teddie because of his complicity in previous harassment. There's the optimistic part of me wishes they would because sometimes a "kill-em-with-kindness" approach is the way to go. But, the more cynical half of me is watching with amusement as the fruition of hypocrisy swallows a man's soul. Can't play both sides and expect to be accepted by either one when your bullshit gets exposed for the world to see.

Oh, and I forgot to mention one tiny detail about OP: He's 21.

Pretty pathetic. Then again, if he could stop being such a moralistic fuckwit Tumblr reject, then maybe their patience and evidence gathering would be useful on the Farms.

And did no one archive this and the Google Doc?

Especially since he ended up protecting the tweets!!!1

As for the Undertale thing, it’s not really certain what the motive actually was and I am almost positive the artist still does Frisk/Sans work. I don’t bother with the pairing at all or any in Undertale.

Wait what? How can he be a mascot without an open endorsement? Following accounts doesn't mean anything.

It slipped my mind. :cryblood: I've been off the Farms for too long. Still keeping an eye out though, as I'm sure he hasn't deleted the tweet yet, just privated. I'll get it or something better.

This reminds me of a niche thing I discovered a couple years back. I searched for a bit for evidence of it, and I can't seem to find it because it's so specific and so hidden, but I'll simply explain.

There's a movie called The Boondock Saints that has a cult following and had a small group of people who actually made your typical fandom art for the flick back in 2012. The protagonists of the movie are twins, portrayed by Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery. I recall getting curious and browsing through Instagram back before 2017 and finding a piece of anime ship art between the brothers. And, well, Flanery liked a piece of the fanart with incestuous overtones.

A pretty amusing little event to look back on. Luckily, it wasn't Reedus (who's found much more success with The Walking Dead among fandom types) and finding out someone's Instagram likes is more difficult than Twitter likes. Doubt puritans would particularly care about TBS though, since it is a dark comedy movie with a lot of pearl-clutching humor for those easily offended. The characters also aren't "uwu soft bois" that need protecting, since the protags are gruff, Catholic Irishmen.

Then again, I've seen puritanical fandom crop up around worse media, so it wouldn't be too jarring if a couple of younger folks started a movement to "kill the MacManuscest freaks" if the third installment of the series ever gets out of development hell.

TBS is a pretty fun watch too. I'd recommend it if you haven't seen it already.
