Luckily I still can't wrap my head around how anyone can be "ace" and/or "enby" and still be gay/lesbian/sometimes bi. Just one or other of the former should rule out the latter, but that would expose the bullshit of their fake sexualities.
Well Lady Luck bless thee no longer, because it's time for an explanation!
You can still be asexual while being concurrently gay/lesbian because of the concept of the Split Attraction Model. Essentially, it's the belief that you can still be
romantically attracted to people without being sexually attracted. So, for example, a male asexual who is romantically attracted to other men is still gay, but that doesn't cancel out his asexuality because he has no desire to be with anyone sexually. Usually, with the Split Attraction Model, people will say they're "Homoromantic Asexual" to indicate that their romantic attraction is to the same sex but they have no attraction for any sex.
In regards to being enby and still being gay/lesbian, there's a lot of discourse surrounding that in the community. They keep making up a lot of labels for non-binary people attracted to certain genders. Though, that delves into the exclusionism vs inclusionism shit and honestly, it's a bunch of trifles for people to ultimately feel more oppressed.
Personally, I'm someone who really doesn't believe that much in microlabeling everything. I'd just call a dude attracted to a dude gay, no matter if they identify as asexual or not, because I hail from a time when your sexuality really wasn't something you needed to broadcast for brownie points. But, one has to adapt to the times.
Also, don't shoot the messenger. I'm just explaining what I know.
I find shipping wars pretty hilarious and harmless, as long as they argue over who's the better cartoon boyfriend and whine about representation -- but don't like, give each other cookies with needles in them. (Some Undertale wacko I believe.)
Yup, yup! Shockingly, it wasn't a Western shipping extremist either. It was at a convention in Taiwan. Some psychotic kid gave a cookie full of needles to a Frisk/Sans shipper. Not sure if it was because of "killing a pedo who ships a pedo ship" or if it was just because of disliking the ship.
An article about it:
https://medium.com/@trekfaerie/antis-will-have-a-body-count-89390b491716
Quite an interesting read in 2021, considering how much worse antis have gotten since the writing of this article. I don't believe there's been an incident as bad as this one since then, but I'd argue they've gotten much more hateful online and much deeper ingrained into their rhetoric since then. Everyone's an anti in certain fandoms these days because of how bad the treatment of pro-shippers/really anyone who doesn't give a flying fuck about the nonexistent consequences of smooshing your precious dolls' faces together is. It's a massive, worrying echo chamber.
