Have Jim Jones appear early as a political organizer on the left, specifically as a fighter for racial equality and social justice. Give the impression that this may be wholesome big chungus Jones (lol no).
By the time Hall is in power, Jones has become a powerful figure on the left, and has become increasingly authoritarian, developing a cult of personality among the youth and greatly expanding his 'People's Temple' political machine.
Gus Hall's VP dies midway through his term, causing Hall to appoint Jones. If Hall gets a second term (utilizing political intimidation, voting fraud, and redistricting), he ends up suffering a stroke and being removed from power. Hall then gets to watch helplessly as Jones utilizes all the weakpoints and cracks that Hall made to cement absolute power. The military, suffering from purges by Hall, is remade with Jones loyalists. Agricultural collectivization (which started as Hall nationalizing big agribusiness and landholders) becomes increasingly focused on grabbing land from 'colonists' and giving it to Jones supporters. The political purges and investigations that Hall used on the Yockeys expand to anyone right of Marx.
Jone's path has two endings. The first is that he manages to cement his hold on the country, and will rule as an absolute dictator for years to come. The other is Jones being ousted by large scale rebellion, which causes him to enact Jonestown on a nationwide scale. People's Temple militia rampage across the country, trying to burn down as much as they can. Millions die, industry is crippled, and America will take decades to recover.

I think the real criminality is the lack of a good Social Conservative choice. The "sane" candidates are Neocons or Hernia Sanders lefties for the "Democracy" route.

The actual written content is appalling at worst and medicore at best every character speaks like an edgy teenager, you could take Hermann Goerring's written content and switch it with the filler story for the English Resistance and there would be no change in tone or characterisation

My favorite is the way RFK is written in this as an emotional, spoiled dick when IRL, he's was pretty humble and known to be very timid along with being the most morally good out of the brothers.

IT honestly makes me grit my teeth. Quite literally spitting on a good man just for "Muh story".

The ONLY thing LA had going for it when I lived there during uni was the easy access to wacky tobacky and decently attractive Asian and Mexican girls. Other wise it was a giant dumpster fire that makes the worst shitholes seem nice.

My question is, how would you improve TNO from its current state?
I'd majorly revamp the South African War so it's not a dumb straightforward Vietnam allegory. It can turn into a Vietnam slog if you aren't careful, but an actual good ending is possible.
It's dumb when you get events talking about the 'tragedy' of the SAW, and of the thousands of lives wasted, and blah blah blah when you scored a decisive victory and liberated Africa from the Nazis. The SAW should be a turning point, in that a clear victory will raise people's spirits and restore American pride (at the potential cost of driving the nation towards a pro-interventionist stance), changing much of the path of America.

Y'know, I've kinda liked TNO, I still find playing as the Russian warlords pretty fun, albeit very formulaic. But I always had the sense that this mod was an autistic tinderbox and a match was just begging to be lit. Now, its finally lit and the flames are as high as I can see them.

It makes me wonder what 4chan TNO Redux will be like. I know stuff like Pokémon Clover was a thing, it was pretty good for a romhack (or technically, a 'mod') made by a bunch of /vp/ anons.

I'm 90% certain Panzer had a part in the writing of the initial Presidential candidates for 64. The current US team leader (Doc) admitted that he only had real control of the direction of the 68 and 72 candidates which probably explains why they're a bit better in terms of character portrayal. That's why the writing for the 64 presidents greatly misinterprets their characters. RFK is an obvious one as you mention, but so is Wallace, who's portrayed as this brash hard drinking cowboy with a short fuse and the mouth of a sailor. As someone who has actually read up on Wallace (like books and articles from the time not the Wikipedia shit) it is such a blatant misinterpretation of the man he actually was that no one other than Panzer could possibly fuck up such a thing.

I feel like the Democrat candidates are portrayed as fairly middle of the road conservatives. What really sets me off is their portrayal of the FR NPP, which has (aside from southern democrats/dixiecrats) otl Reagan allies, Birchers, generals, neocons, and pro-business elements all in a way to make it seem like this melting pot of moderate to extremist conservatism with no real direction. Essentially just taking anything that tankies, succdems, and socialist LARPs might hate and just grouping them into one party wing. Its just some really skewed shit to the point in which the TNO fandom just views them as "goons" or "scum" (do I need to point out the irony here when RFK uses COINTELPRO or when Herrington enforces federal civil rights legislation so radical it fucks up American society?)

Also if you look in the files to see the FR senators, they got fucking Roy Cohn and William Buckley (who was literally a backer of Goldwater might I add and alluded to as one in one of Wallace's foci) as NY senators. So do with that what you will.

Your post summed up my exact feelings. The biggest thing about the FR is that there are no Populists except how you can make Wallace, it makes no fucking sense considering who was a founder of the FR, Patton. Wallace in general is a disappointment to me as I watched his speeches, the way he talks is way more elegant than how he is in TNO, funny enough, LeMay acts more like Wallace than Wallace himself.

Might be the devil's lettuce corroding my brain right know, but i don't think that some sort of cosmopolitan society or whatever is a retarded pipe dream, BUT what i think most people who desire something like that forget is that diversity by itself has no value, it is naive to think that just because there are a lot of cultures in close proximity, everyone will hold each other's hand, sing kumbaya and birth something of significance.

Tbf almost of Southern Democrats at the time were economic populists due to the fact that FDR's New Deal offered unprecedented economic opportunity for the South that wasn't seen during and after reconstruction. The only major exception was Strom Thurmond, who was pretty disillusioned with the New Deal economics and favored a more laissez approach expoused by fusionists such as Goldwater and Reagan, but I digress. The main takeaway is that the mod is so caught up on the fact that Southern Democrats were pro-segregation to various degrees that its genuinely hard to tell if they believe in anything else, something which has sadly stuck with most of the community.
