Back to normal for whom? For Californians? (Sorry, I'm not a burger, so the only state I am familiar with is California.) As was mentioned here, Florida is pretty much normal.
Shitty east european country my parents are from already has university students back to in-person school. I watch vlogs from people there and they also don't bother with social distancing and masks.

What I'm trying to say is that many parts of the world are normal now, you can see they are not doing worse than retarded masked Californians and such. It puzzles me when journos write about world like it consists only of California, I don't even know anything else about USA as an outsider.

"Normal" basically means that they can do what Florida is doing without liberal or MSM guilt. Which will be years.

As someone who was, tangetionally at least related to the vaccine development, with the medical research place I work at being part of the Pfizer vaccine creation, the way the government and media are essentially trying to gaslight people regarding vaccines is sicking. They take a 5% margin of error (understandable considering how fucking rushed the thing was) and make it an excuse to force people to wear masks and stay inside. While my work has finally said that the "middle of summer" will be the time to look for returning, the fact that even in the medical industry they are just blindly following this blantant misinformation regarding how vaccines work sickens me.

God, I'm so fucking sick of people treating the coof like it's a confirmed death sentence if you get it, especially the "but muh long term effects!" "long COVID" crowd. News flash, Lexi: a lot of viruses have the potential to totally fuck you over. No two immune systems are exactly alike, and the same virus can be shrugged off by one person but create serious problems for another. It sucks, but that's life, and a mature person would take that lesson to heart.

(Let's also not forget how many people's lungs were fucked up due to being put on ventilators at the start of all this, which I guarantee is being taken as evidence of how awful the coof is.)

If the coof were anywhere near as serious as doomers like to believe it is, then these various restrictions would at least make some level of sense. But it's not, so they don't, and all these dystopian hellholes end up doing is fucking over their constituents for no good reason. It's bad enough to force small businesses to close and ruin people's livelihoods that they may have spent decades building, but it's a million times worse that we effectively have state-sanctioned child abuse happening on a large scale. Absolutely fucking disgusting.

So has there been any good news about the vaccines? Sounds like the good news was limited to "there is now a vaccine, praise Science!" and that was it. I haven't heard anything positive about these vaccines or their distribution. All I hear is routine failures to distribute the vaccine in place after place, politicians and bureaucrats arguing which groups should get the vaccine (like my favorite "should blacks get it first because muh systemic racism or should blacks be exempt from it because muh systemic racism") and shortages of the vaccine. The vaccine itself, we hear, is not 100% effective as you will still get sick with the Chinese virus and you will still be able to spread the Chinese virus. The vaccine only works against the old boring Chinkflu strain and only a few super duper mega evolved Chinkflu strains and is ineffective against the newest mega evolved Chinkflu strains. And worst of all, those damn antivaxxer conspiracy Nazi QAnon Drumpfists STILL don't want to take the vaccine.

Re: return to normal.

I actually do think that in Florida, DeSantis directing the vaccines go to the olds and not to Jamal and Tameika the 25-yo Publix employees is the key, and we will accomplish this in late summer. DeSantis doing that...saying hey, not just the olds in nursing homes who don’t contribute to the economy but the olds in the Villages and such who contribute enormously...prioritized over the young and healthy who are already back out there in the bars anyway...that will make all the difference.

My countries vaccine rollout has been abysmal we aren't vaccinating nearly as many people as we should be and our dear leader hasn't been pushing hard enough to get more as we currently have a shortfall.

I have nothing against old people but...I would absolutely rather that little girl get a proper education so that her remaining 70+ years of life will be full of opportunity than ruin her life before it even begins so grandma doesn’t have to give up the last 5 years of her 70+ years of opportunity. And if I was someone’s grandma while I would want a scenario in which we both did well, if I had to pick between me and my goddamn grandkid I’d pick my grandkid.

Depicting hugging your grandchildren as evil and scary ... Fucking hell, man.

My parents' best friends, who I have known for literally my entire life and are the godparents of my brother, recently hit their 80's. Last time they talked to my parents on the phone, they were like "fuck this, we're seeing our grandchildren in person and hugging them. We both agreed that the risk was worth it." They've had their grandkids over multiple times over the past year; nothing has happened yet, and they're not miserable. I have some extended family who are in their mid-70's and think that all of this is bullshit, too. I wish more Boomers were like them, lemmetellya.

People have the right to choose what is best for them. If people want to take the risk, then that is their right. If people want to stay home, then that is their right. I know this is a foreign concept to so many people these days, sadly.

Imagine if the sides were flipped, and the left was all about "herd immunity." The left would undoubtedly want to literally force people out of their homes and into crowded spaces to achieve herd immunity, showing a complete disregard for people who are scared and "vulnerable." This is how the left operates; they're authoritarians.
