What a fucking retard. He's trying to say that because the range of testosterone levels is similar in males in females in some dataset, you can't set testosterone level cutoffs for sports eligibility.

Anyone who has ever seen a histogram can immediately tell that the male vs female distributions are very different. The long tail for females is made up of outliers. Without knowing more about the source data, we can't make many conclusions about what is going on there.

Edit: here's a figure from the paper he cites. The line at 10 nmol/L is the lower end of the reference range for normal males and the value the IOC uses to define hyperandrogenism in females. 11 of the 231 females included in this study had levels about 10 nmol/L. Of the 445 men, 332 were above it.

Edit 2: I'm back for more. He says that "in statistics, complete overlap means..." like he knows what he's talking about. I've never heard of "complete overlap" before so I looked into the boundaryseer software and it is for analysis of spatial overlap. Like, for maps and geographic data.

Why can’t some reasonable capable person rebut this shit in a public forum where he can’t wiggle away? When he gets the chance to argue he bamboozles people who are ill-prepared or inclined to properly argue against.

It comes down to this. If one accepts that, as a class, it makes sense to separate male and female athletes in the name of fairness and sport then to make Rhys’s arguments that the class of trans women should compete with the females you have to demonstrate that, on average, trans women have similar biological traits and performance levels as biological females.

This difference is average performance and all this nonsense about the overlap in relevant sex based categories is just that.

The very same arguments that Rhys is trying to use to justify trans women competing in women’s sports can be used to justify men competing in women’s sport.

Arguments that currently trans women do not dominate female sports are just inane because there are very few trans women, so far, competing with the females.

His own example is a strong counter-argument. That a middle aged man can transition, pick up a sport he’s never competed in, and then win at high competitive levels shows precisely that the concerns of female athletes being dominated are entirely justified.

The bottom line is that Rhys thinks, and he admits this, that even if it is the case that trans women will start to dominate female sports this should not be a reason to exclude them from female competition categories.

Give him some credit for consistency because he actually argues that he is “female” not just “trans-feminine”.

Which is insane, but consistently so.

Because of current SJW proprieties apparently reasonably capable arguers are not able to mount a proper defense of female sports and this cretin gets far more airtime to make his specious arguments unopposed than he should.
