Unpopular Opinions about Video Games

I hate Red Dead Redemption 2, I’ve never gotten past the intro because it’s so fucking slow and boring. I hate what it stands for. I hate the trend of Rockstar games, and AAA games in general, having shitty gameplay but great stories. If you’re gonna tell a story, take advantage of the fucking vidya medium instead of just making something that could’ve just been a movie or TV show. I hate how people online will call you a fake videogamer that likes Fortnite because you don’t like Red Dead Redemption 2. I don’t care how good the story is. Fuck. That. Game.

I slightly disagree. RDR 2 made a lot of gameplay improvements over RDR (particularly with horse speed), the main exception being gunplay. It’s the story that’s shit. It’s a weaker RDR that adds nothing to the original game and in fact actively weakens it. I’d have preferred an expanded retelling of RDR over that, or hell, a reboot of Revolver.

Everyone working at bioware on dragon age post da:O is gay.
If you look up the romances for both da 2 and inquisition its obvious the gay choices have had a lot of more time and effort put in to them. Hell even the character models speaks of this. All the male models are conventional attractive males and most of them have intressting backstories.
What im most confused by is how unattractive all the female companions are cause there are some attractive female models in the game. The dwarfen lady you meet at the first quest hub in DA:I is cute af. But casandra looks like a woman at a gaybar in her mid 30´s. The other woman in inquestion looks like a abigail shapiro without the titts.
All the male options are David Gaider's personal fantasy husbando OCs, their primary purpose is aiding in his nightly masturbation sessions. He also happened to be the lead writer of the first 3 DA games. What, you expect him to make his pet twinks look like rats?

i liked death stranding. game was pretty and the story though had a ton of nonsense was still a fun setting to explore. I hope we see more in the setting like a better explanation of DOOMs and such, maybe more interaction with it.

also the online features were nice you get twitter likes without dealing with checkmarks and other twitter folks.

(idk if thats an unpopular opinion but a lotta folks seem to hate the game from what ive seen.)

I love Doom 3 because it's scary. Doom shouldn't only rely on action. It needs to be scary too. The originals were pretty scary at certain parts too.
Doom 3 isn’t scary
Unpopular opinion: 3D graphics came to video games too early.

When the major studios stopped using hand-drawn or prerendered sprites about 20 years ago, we IMO still weren't anywhere close to the peak of what could be achieved with such techniques.

Instead, every game jumped on the 3D bandwagon even if gameplay didn't benefit from it.
As a result, we got over a decade of low-poly graphics (triangle boobs etc.) that have aged absolutely terribly.
It was ALWAYS gonna age terribly. EVERY game "ages terribly" after ten years
Reading vidya novel adaptions should be considered a form of self-harm.

It loads the world all at once. that's it. it doesnt really support "streaming".
but then again it can load a whole titanfall 2 level voice clips and animations and all so maybe if it's somehow insufficient for the latest furbait collectathon platformer the player should go fuck thesmselves and so should you
It wasn't using the source engine, it was using a heavily modified version of the source engine

Which ones did you specifically play?

Most people start with 7.
VII, VIII, IX. Of which, I found IX to be the least dull. Tried again with XV after some heavy peer pressure and that was comfortably the shittest game I've wasted time on since Too Human, with the possible exception of MGS V.

If we're talking Final Fantasy games, I actually like the FF1 remake on the gba which is not a well loved entry and I've replayed it a bunch of times with various team builds. Maybe it's the simplicity, but I really enjoy it.

Is that video worth watching? The level of soy expressed in that video is cringe inducing.

He can have his fag fantasies he wants. All i want are attractive and intressting female characters. Fuck the lesbian or the rat faced bitch.

I kinda want to try that one if only because I'm curious if the changes that were made for it make the game less tedious than the original versions.

Oh you played the original? That had to be janky as fuck so I can understand why you didn't have a good time with that. But I took quick look at the FF wiki and it should give you a good idea of what to expect
  • Reduced difficulty level – The GBA version's difficulty level most closely resembles the "easy mode" of the PlayStation/Final Fantasy Origins version. Unlike that version, however, there is no option to switch back to the original difficulty. The redirection of "ineffective" hits, which had been optional since it was introduced in the WSC version, is now mandatory.
  • Lower resolution graphics – compared to the PlayStation version, graphics are of similar quality to the WSC version, although the GBA has a slightly higher screen resolution and certain sequences (such as flying around on the airship) look better on the GBA than on the WSC.
  • New magic system – The "spell level"-based magic system was dropped in favor of the magic point-based system used in more recent Final Fantasy games. Although spells are still classified at certain levels for some purposes (characters can still only be equipped with three of the four available spells of any given level), every spell is now assigned a point value. When cast, that value is subtracted from a total number of magic points (or MP) that applies to all spells known by a character
  • New item system – Many new items were introduced, including the reviver item Phoenix Down. Healing items are now easier to procure and less expensive. The party starts with 500 gil instead of 400 as in previous versions. The player can also now obtain item drops from enemies.
  • Omake bestiary – The omake artwork gallery and item collection present in the PlayStation version have been omitted, but the bestiary gallery remains and operates in much the same way.
  • Miscellaneous game engine tweaks – Certain classes have been modified: the Thief and Monk have become more powerful, whereas the Red Mage has become less so. Stat growth has been altered, and Intelligence now affects the strength of weapon-based magic spells.
  • Altered save system – The game can now be saved at any time outside of battles. There are three available save game slots.
  • Monsters have even more HP – Because the introduced changes make the game even less challenging, many monsters and bosses have had their hit points increased.
  • "Auto-naming" – During character creation, the player can choose to have the game randomly assign a name to each character. The names are taken from other Final Fantasy games and include Desh (Final Fantasy III), Giott (Final Fantasy IV), Kelga (Final Fantasy V), and Daryl (Final Fantasy VI), among others.
  • Soul of Chaos – Four new optional dungeons have been introduced, one corresponding to each Fiend, and become available after that Fiend is defeated. The dungeons are especially challenging and feature items and monsters not found elsewhere. At the end of each dungeon there are a variety of boss monsters from subsequent games in the Final Fantasy series, including the bosses from the World of Darkness from Final Fantasy III, the Archfiends from Final Fantasy IV, the bosses from the Cleft of Dimension from Final Fantasy V and the bosses from Final Fantasy VI.

It’s Brian David Gilbert, his Unraveled series is hilarious.
Having skimmed the video, I can safely say you won't miss anything of value if you don't watch it. It's Polygon for Christ's sake. Spend the ~20 minutes on something else.
Trust me, Unraveled is the only thing on the channel worth watching, besides Monster Factory, which is another amazing series by the McElroy brothers. I haven’t watched anything else on the channel, so you can’t call me a polygon shill. :story:

Original and Origins (PS1) to be precise. Origins fixed the spells, but outside of that it was identical to the original. The Intelligence bug is still there so magic is still jank. From what I see here, the GBA version is like the Easy mode in Origins, which I haven't tried, along with other things like Intelligence being fixed and the magic system being completely overhauled to the MP system most games use.
